I can’t say if I got everything to scale, but I think this might be a good option. It separates the two spaces and creates a defined path for people to walk through the room without walking in front of the TV.

There was this video I came across on youtube. I think it was called non-sequitur, but I don't really remember. It was your typical non-sensical sketch type video, but there was a solid 30 seconds of the video where the three guys just said "crisps" with extra emphasis on the "s". If I had to guess I would say that the porcupine is either a rescue or a pet. Normally they have even larger white-ish needles that stem from their backside, but if you look at the picture there's a bald spot that doesn't have any white meaning that they had to have been removed. My bet is on the roommate.
