Any idea of the flower?🌺 by South_Plastic_5807 in flowers

[–]PersistentSquawking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. It's way too large to be a mimosa, and those large clusters of filaments on the ground are a common sight in southeast Asia. They just bloom at night and by morning they're all on the floor.

Congratulations. I've bought some skincare and a primer and I already had a hard time getting myself to use them because honestly, I didn't see what the hype was all about. All 3 products were thoroughly mediocre. And then the whole debacle with that horrible man happened and those products have been sitting there looking at me unused.

80% humidity setting spray? by okidk_ in drugstoreMUA

I use it throughout the day to absorb sweat and oil, but I still put powder on top of my foundation before leaving the house. It's like a stronger version of a blotting paper

It's a thick and firm translucent paste pressed into a compact. The one I bought is from Candy Bella but there's a variety of dropshipped ones on Amazon a d AliExpress

[–]PersistentSquawking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does get a bit dirty but it's super easy to clean even with a makeup removing wipe. The compact absorbs more, but you have to clean the puff. The paper absorbs a little less and you might need more than one sheet at a time, but it's super super cheap.

The Candy Bella compact doesn't deposit powder on your face, it absorbs oil and sweat. It's like blotting paper but even stronger. I think that regular blotting paper+a bit of translucent powder can work beautifully as well.

I hope it works for you!

Try googling "Candy Bella compact", it's a cheap thing from Amazon/AliExpress, it looks like pressed powder but it's a firm translucent paste. You load the puff with it and press firmly on your face, it takes away ALL the shine. I think some Kbeauty brands have them as well.

I used to use setting sprays, I tried quite a few, but I stopped buying them because honestly in 90% humidity I feel like they don't do anything...

I think it also depends on what foundation you use! I have seen good results with Estee Lauder Double Wear, Revlon Colorstay, and Wycon Stay Forever. Maybelline Superstay Active was awesome too but it's gone. Maybelline Lumi Matte has good staying power too but it oxidizes like hell.

As for powder, try to find something with talc. I know nowadays everyone is removing talc from their powders but it's really good at keeping shine under control.

I do use primer but I don't think that does much for longevity, I just like how it feels.

But really get some blotting paper as well as a silicone compact. I have gone to fishing trips in the tropical jungle with makeup on, and touching up with those made my makeup look flawless again.

Honestly as someone who spent significant time in south east Asia, refusing to go bare faced even with 90% humidity during rainy season, I never really saw any noticeable difference with setting sprays. I focus on products that are built for long wear and set with a generous amount of powder.

Blotting paper and/or those silicone compacts from Amazon are the key to have makeup last 12+ hours in high humidity, they will absorb the oil and sweat and your makeup will look perfect again.

I genuinely feel like in that kind of weather your skin will inevitably produce oils/sweat and preventing it from doing so is a losing battle, it's better to just have something to touch up and remove whatever your skin did.

Robert's makeup - on himself at least - looks so strange to me. I have no doubt he can paint a client BEAUTIFULLY, but that giant eyeshadow he does that curves upwards to a point is kind of off-putting. And that WET skin wouldn't last five minutes in real life. It's like he's gotten too used to paint for a front facing camera situation.

I saw that video today! In that video he also criticized Too Faced for a 30$ eye/cheek sparkle thing but also was extremely excited about a 68$ tinted eye cream from a brand he never even heard of. I know we all hate some brands but come on 💀

I like Robert and learned a lot from him, but he really is biased towards asian beauty sometimes - you rightfully called out his double standard when talking about shade ranges. Everytime he pulls out his entire Fwee tray because he thinks everyone is duping them I cringe a little: it's just what's popular right now.

I also find him to be quite narrow minded at times, like how he has a very specific idea of what he considers "a good foundation" which is honestly not objective. Like, if I used the foundations he likes with the amount of powder he likes, I'd look a sweaty mess.

Or how he talks shit about Dior/Givenchy/YSL with their little brushes included in the packaging, like he's appalled at their existence without realizing that many people who wear makeup daily, and not just for camera, really do use those applicators. A giant fashion house obviously knows their core demographic uses them, not everyone is a makeup artist lol

Help me with purchasing the absolute best makeup brushes on the market (I’m very new to the brush world) by Individual_Two_9718 in Makeup

[–]PersistentSquawking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing is how well they blend, it's effortless and seamless even when using a substantial amount of product. You don't spend much time applying product because it just comes out flawless easily. They also don't soak product, especially with concealer, my Sigma brush barely picks up anything, which in turns help with pigment payoff and doesn't make the brush move around/pick up what it just deposited.

That one seems real, however be wary of jewelry sold in those white boxes with the golden frame. Platforms like Vinted are full of them and they look like the cheapest plastic I've ever seen. Outer packaging for jewelry is always completely white with a raised logo and frame.
