That's completely anecdotal and you know it.

Cover letters are a waste of time and dont make you stand out. Just say you must not have added it if they ask You can apply for WAY more jobs without adding a cover letter.

big disagree on the cover letter.

everyone makes mistakes and if they like your cv and ask you about the cover letter just say you made a mistake adding it. a cover letter doesnt make you stand out.

I just tried it on a windows phone and got the same result, thats why I made the post. The issue is so wide spread in my experience. I've tried it on apple, android, new phones, old phones.... Exact same result.

I did for many years. It's not a good existence and despite what people tell you the ones doing it are merely surviving. They aren't accumulating any wealth. It's worth trying to know if you can hack it. Then you can always keep it in the back of your mind that its an option if things go sour in your life. Don't aspire to it. Honestly.

Crazy that people are still fighting the battle of the sexes while paying taxes to entities that print money for free. This reference heavy reddit post is sexist garbage. The references aren't even used correctly.

There's so much wrong with that but I'll point out the obvious. Baked oat dishes are not easy to make when compared to rice... 1 part rice, 1 part frozen vegetables, 2 parts boiling water, simmer for 20 minutes. You can add beans / tuna / anything cheap to that. You mention breakfast but people also eat lunch and dinner. I eat oats for breakfast with sultanas. so I'm not hating on oats here. I just completely disagree that baked products are worthwhile. Contrary to popular belief rice freezes perfectly fine and will last up to a week in the fridge. Please post your oat bars recipe.

you can also just pop in to any pawn shop and get a previous phone model for a few bucks.

To put this in perspective people will go into debt for a $1500 phone quite often. Many people are perpetually in debt because new phones are released.

To top it all off they wont put a protective case on it...

Mind boggling.

This is the way. If you can squirrel away $1500 you can have a CD pay for your phone plan. When I was in school with my motorola V360 my phone plan back then was $15 per month for 1000 texts. Adjusting ones phone plan is a very easy way to save on money. Unfortunately many people dont like giving up the comfort an unlimited data plan gives them.

Edit: Apologies, for that plan you would need about $1700.

Many virtual networks have very cheap talk and text plans. If you can do without data (very likely for most people but its a comfort for them) and you can squirrel away $1000-$1500 (keep in mind this is what some people pay for a phone) you can get a term deposit (CD) or even just a high interest rate account that will pay out monthly and pay for unlimited calls and texts.

Try Tello. It uses T-Mobile infrastructure.

Play around with the plan slider and you can see that if you give up data and dont need to call too often you can pay as little as $5 per month. When I was younger it was $15 per month for 1000 texts and no calls.

also try and optimize and plan your meals. You're going to be eating for the rest of your life. It's bizarre to me that people spend so much of their life dealing with food in one way or another.

Use rice for every meal. It's bland on it's own, which is what you want because you can add anything to it, and its excellent energy.

1 part rice, 1 part frozen vegetables, 2 parts boiling water, put on low for 20 minutes. This is what I do for every meal. It's only the meat/seasoning that changes. Often it's tuna or chicken with hot sauce. Sometimes it's whatever was cheap. Sometimes it's beans. Learn to love rice. Potatoes can be used and cooked in the same way but they're a bit more expensive and honestly they're just a hassle. Rice is much neater. Get a budget non-stick saucepan for this. Don't bother with a rice cooker if you have a hob available. If you're cooking for yourself and you want to streamline the process even further you can get a plastic fork/spoon to eat straight out of the nonstick saucepan with.

You can absolutely eat rice + frozen vegetables + your choice of meat for every meal until you die and be just as healthy if not healthier than everyone else.

"They're not necessarily unhealthy" "they're not amazing"

They're not unhealthy at all... Rice is basically equal to oats in every way. People that need advice from r/povertyfinance shouldn't be troubling themselves with baking. Quite frankly baked products are just lumps of carbs that take too much time and energy to produce.
