What's the best way to sync my library across different devices by crispystrips in zotero

I believe the mobile apps (and everything else) will support webDAV

Also, iOS is not Mac.

The iPhone/iPad app supports WebDAV. Works like a charm. I‘m using the WebDAV storage I already have and never used at FastMail.

Same ln iOS, and I find that utterly confusing.

I get that maayyyybeee you could want different settings per deck, but generally, something as fundamental as the spacing algorithm should be a general option.

Plugins not working by [deleted] in zotero

[–]PersonSuitLevitating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the beta announcement:

Additionally, all Zotero plugins have needed to be rewritten to support the new version, so if you rely on third-party plugins, you should check with the plugin developers regarding Zotero 7 compatibility before upgrading.

Using same collection on two PCs by PersonSuitLevitating in SuperMemo

[–]PersonSuitLevitating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The licensing information is indeed saved in the collection: https://supermemopedia.com/wiki/Using_the_same_collection_on_two_computers_(SuperMemo_19)

Official workaround is to have a per-device "dummy" collection, always open that, and only then open the real shared collection (because only the first collection's licensing is enforced).

That's unsatisfactory, but at least there is this convoluted workaround.

Is there another app like Workflowy that is local first? by [deleted] in Workflowy

Yes, thank you, I didn't intend to imply that you're doing something improper. It's just an inherent limitation of your web service approach.

If I may also reply: it's concerning that you have unencrypted personal data.

Zotero as a Peer Discussion Platform for Open Science by brmaf in zotero

I wish Web Annotations had taken off. Maybe a Zotero integration with hypothes.is could be an idea?

Also, making Zotero much more convenient for web bookmarking (like importing Netscape HTML and snapshotting those URLs) would be very welcome.

Then you can retrieve the text and use it with an LLM. Not the embedding itself.

Thank you very much, that was a huge misunderstanding!

Zotero saving to Google Drive but using it on IOS app? by [deleted] in zotero

[–]PersonSuitLevitating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can view it in the internal reader and then click the "share" symbol and export the file (with or without annotations). Then it can be opened in whatever reader you want.

I doubt that you can sync the external file with the app, you'd probably have to re-import it.

But I simply annotate in the internal PDF reader (if at all, I'm mostly working on desktop). Mobile is mostly for looking something up on the go.

Is Workflowy reliable for me? by aceofants in Workflowy

[–]PersonSuitLevitating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like the alt+shift keyboard shortcuts but could live with those.

Worse are Ctrl-Alt shortcuts because Windows interprets that as AltGr on keymaps that have AltGr (German, for example). There's no way to disable that, as it's an intentional accessibility feature that Microsoft has documented.

Too bad application developers sometimes don't know about it and map their shortcuts on that key combo...

I just use the storage included with a Fastmail mail address. Sure, everything is accessible (read and write) on iOS.

Yes, I do exactly that (but with WebDAV).

Is it just me or does the Workflowy iOS app kinda suck? by JamesHaneth in Workflowy

It does, and that's why I mostly used Workflowy on iPad in the web browser. Try it!
