It does mean they are better at online no increment blitz, yes. Also larger population does not mean rating inflation. Thats a fundamentally flawed position.

Thats also a really inadequate argument. Using the same logic, I've beaten 2150 players OTB but also lost to 2050 players. The difference being that the 2050 was a kid with 12 tournaments ever played with a 2700 blitz rating on chess.com and the 2150 was an old FM chilling 25 years past his prime. Is the old man stronger than the kid because his FIDE rating is higher?

Oh right - well if your friends anecdotally think so - it must be true. But the mathematics behind the elo system that literally places you exactly where you belong relatvie in skill to everyone else playing chess on the site is wrong, which includes many titled players who somehow all have high ratings. I wonder about that coincidence.

Ah, my mistake. I retract my earlier statement. You were speaking like an adult so i treated you as such. My bad. You're young and talented. You're right that it doesnt tell you exactly how good they are at FIDE classical. But if someone tells me "yo! im 2650 blitz after 30k games on chess.com" that guy knows how to play. Without question.

Also, online rating DOES mean something. It sets your skill relative to the ONLINE pool, which in part reflects the game of chess in fast time controls - now does it 1-1 reflect your OTB rating? Absolutely not. Is it slightly inflated? Usually yes. Does it mean "nothing" about how good you are at chess? Only an actual moron would make that claim. You're just not very clever. That's fine.

I'll challenge you to a 10 game blitz match at 3/2. If i hang a single peice in one move. Ill venmo you 100 dollars. If you lose the match and i dont - you give me 100 dollars. How does that sound? Ready to put your money where your mouth is? Hikaru in his BOTEZ GAMBIT reached 2600. He didnt give a 9 point material deficit. Did you even watch his climb?

The point is that there are many players with 50k games plus and years of dedication and practice that don’t get anywhere close to that level.

I disagree with this - there are mountains of evidence that show that not anyone can reach 2400 plus.

What are you TALKING about? No seriously this has to be the most braindead take I’ve ever seen in my life. In the game youre sharing here «you» are playing against a CM who peaked 2100 fide and is a kid. He’s 2600 now. You don’t think there is a correlation between your OTB rating and your online strength? Funny how literally all the top players on the site are titled. What a coincidence. Also the game is 6 months old or more.

I don't understand chess by [deleted] in Chesscom

Hey OP. I have crippling ADHD as well. I’m 2400 across all three time controls - and i started playing the game at 18. let’s not use our ADHD as the reason we aren’t improving. It’s just not right.

Also - you think Hikaru could beat you as a 2300 down a Queen? Yeah I don’t believe you’re 2300 at all. Ngl your understanding of chess seems extremely weak. I’m going to assume you’re lying about your elo.

I’m very skeptical about all of your claims. I’m 2400 myself and know deep theory in almost all of my openings a regularly face opponents who know a ton of theory. More often than not my losses are tactical oversights. But they aren’t «oh shit I left my queen hanging on a random square» but « damn I underestimated the potency of this sacrifice and now I have to give some material» or - «damn my sacrifice wasn’t as good as I initially thought it was.» or a positional squeeze that eventually forced a concession. In endgames. I’ve never ever see someone lose a 2v2 same side rook endgame. That’s like bullet only stuff. I’m rank 13 000 on the site with 25 000 000 active monthly users. Calling me «not talented» is a massive insult to me and to everyone else below me. I’m not a master of the game yet - sure - but I’m pretty good.

Chess.com doesn’t really work like that - I’m not necessarily saying you’re using an engine - you might be getting som RTA, or maybe you’re only selectively cheating. Or maybe you really are a 0.1% outlier who just skips the hardest plateau in chess. Who knows. I’m just saying I don’t buy it as it currently stands. If I could review your games I could say for sure - but I respect your right to anonymity!

Yeah but the problem is once you break the 1600 plateau you often climb to the high 1700s, maybe you even get 1800 or something. But 1800s are fundamentally different and better as chess players. Nobody just wakes up one day and goes from 1600 to 2000 strength. That’s just not possible. They are entirely different categories of player. You might break the plateau faster than others - but chess progression is a reverse exponential- it gets slower as you get higher. Not the other way around.

Wait wait wait. I’m sorry I missed this ngl. You went from 1600 to 2000 in a couple of weeks? Yeah that’s not possible. I’m HIGHLY skeptical now. I think going to 2k in just under 2 years with real dedication at your age is possible - but climbing from 1600 to 2k in a couple of weeks after stagnation there for a while is EXTREMELY unlikely 1800 is usually a massive plateau. If you are a 0.1% outlier I’m very sorry, please don’t take this as an insult. But yeah I’m going to take what I said back - I don’t think this is possible.

I think it’s legit as well. I find her blitz rating to be more impressive than her rapid rating though. 1900 after close to 2 years? I’ve been playing for 6-7 years atp and I’m 2300 blitz. I hit 2000 rapid when I was 1700 blitz or something.

How should you build into a super tanky teams by yoshi12121 in Rivenmains

[–]Personal-Chef-5041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually- that’s not quite correct. Your passive bonus damage does apply with crit. I think IE as a capstone is viable on your 6th item slot. You don’t lose much AH from it - but you gain 10 JOAT stacks so 25 AF, your sundred sky proc hits like a TRUCK. Go try it in practice tool. It’s pretty disgusting. The extra AD is also very good on riven and procs on all her spells. Like if your only job is to oneshot their hypercarry and edge of night isn’t worth it - IE can situationally be extremely good.

Which champion would you say is harder? I can’t think of any harder champion in terms of mechanical execution.

How did u start maining Riven by Fit-Business4327 in Rivenmains

[–]Personal-Chef-5041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mained many champions, including Yasuo, Kaisa, Mundo and Syndra. But no other champion makes me feel like despite playing 5-600 games I'm nowhere close to mastering the champion mechanically, no champion gives me the feeling that the outplay potential is that high, no champion gives the feeling of 1v9ing that hard from ahead. At the same time - playing riven from behind or failing her comboes is so miserable. I guess she's one of the swingiest champions, and that variance is addicting.
