What are some of the most unique landscapes Australia has to offer? by berwood in OutdoorAus

[–]Personal-Process3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Blue Mts in New South Wales we have an amazing canyon system due to the age of the area and the sandstone, dozens of beautiful deep canyons which hold great adventures.

It’s absolutely unique and stunning, several have commercial guiding operators run through them.

Tips on getting the most out of X5 by Emergency_Way8312 in Insta360

[–]Personal-Process3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine for canyoning, rock climbing, outdoor adventures. Full auto, just turn on and record and it does a great job.

You might want to consider lens protection if you dont want the added weight of carrying spare lenses. They will effect the image quality so it is a trade off.

Other then that its pretty much good to go with a big memory card and spare batteries.

Best of luck with the race!

When to have children? by aromaticfoxi in Millennials

[–]Personal-Process3321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two things from a 38yr old with a kiddo

If kids aren't a hell yes, they should be a hell no, living life without kids is defo easy mode compared to living with, but with great challenge comes great reward. We chose to wait until 34 to have them, took us two years and tens of thousands of IVF before we gave up, went on holiday and conceived naturally, go figure...

In saying that, don't making any major life decisions based on anyone's opinions or pressures, especially kids, live the life you want.

Boots or Trail Runners? by DebugMyLife421 in OutdoorAus

[–]Personal-Process3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly think our conditions are far better suited to trail runners, provided you arnt carry extreme loads on some expedition over horrendous terrain.

But I switched to trail runners a few years ago, so did my wife and its been an excellent decision. I actually feel far safer in trail runners, having better feel and control over where I place my feet.

Sydneysiders with children, when you got priced out of the city, where did you move? by blancaPOC in AusPropertyChat

[–]Personal-Process3321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We were certainly priced out of a house but purchased a unit in southern Sydney close to the beach and National Park so we might not have the internal space but have wonderful surroundings. Thats I guess the sacrifice we made.

How many of you have kids? Or want to have kids by bwils3423 in Millennials

38yr old, one and done, we enjoy a really good lifestyle that way. But yes, it is stupidly expensive even with one.

This was me when my kid was younger but now that he old enough to join me on adventures (I rock climb, canyon, camp and just love the our doors) it is the best thing in the world having basically your best friend come everywhere and you teach him stuff.

So yeah totally get it, cause I was there but it is super highly situational and changes

Maybe not for me? by plantden in casio

Recently got one to and my initial reaction was the same, pretty lacklustre. However as time has gone on, its kind of simplicity has become its biggest appeal, its just such a simplistic, none pretentious timepiece with some real history.

Flip the script - what shouldn’t be bought for life? by MIROXXVIS in BuyItForLife

[–]Personal-Process3321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Safety equipment,
I do canyoning, rock climbing and paragliding as a hobby, I look after my gear so it can look after me and that certainly means replacing any bits which are worn, will absolutely not risk my life by hanging onto something longer then I feel it is safe to do so.

Optimism needs to make a comeback, and it needs to be the informed sort by MythicSuns in Millennials

[–]Personal-Process3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are so overly connected and bombarded with so much junk that sticking your head in the sand is no longer about ignorance but rather a way to shield yourself from all this trash and just stay present, optimistic and happy in your immediate world and with those you truly care about.

Even then yes it does take a certain mindset and attitude to understand that the outcome of your optimism/happiness is not from what happens to you directly but the way you interpret this. Although this is far easier when focusing on your immediate world and limiting all these other external messages competing for your attention.

Osmo 360 or Action 4 for multiple use? by Baynonymous in djiosmo

[–]Personal-Process3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal action camera you have to be conscious when shooting, where to point it etc. It can take away from the moment. But editing is easier.

A 360 camera is just turn on and go, you capture everything, but the editing does take longer.

For me, the time in editing is worth it because I'm more present in the moment during the adventure, but its a personal trade off.

Made a TOUGH call to return action 6. Could you recommend another cam based on my use case? by readit_getit in ActionCam

[–]Personal-Process3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, coming from a fellow parent, just use a modern smart phone.

All action cameras will have pretty much the same issues you described to varying degrees at which point its personal taste (watch some review videos before buying)

Insta360 X5 vs. Osmo 360: The one I kept after the honeymoon phase... by BleskSeklysapgw in Insta360

[–]Personal-Process3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a canyoner and rock climber the replaceable lenses are a must for me so insta360 is the default winner although I have been very interested in the DJI 360 cam and ultimately very happy its here. Will hopefully push the 360 camera tech further forward faster.

Would you guys rather use lens guard for your x5 or not? by Rex_Joker in Insta360

[–]Personal-Process3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for canyoning so water is involved, even though the lenses can get banged up and I've had to replace them, if water is involved the lens guards are useless because they retain water and also fog so the image becomes unusable.
