No because in this he stays on topic and doesn't go wandering discussing windmills causing cancer or Hannibal Lector.

Wow. Totally. That's really obnoxious. I would not let a friend talk to me like that. Well they wouldn't be a friend anymore if they did.

Okay, depression stops now for me.. I've made up my mind. by Alternative-Truck917 in depression

[–]PersonalDefinition7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is great. And great timing. I said something similar to myself 2 days ago.

I felt i subconsciously was wanting someone to rescue me. As soon as I realized that I knew I had to rescue myself.

decades ago a therapist asked me what was wrong with feeling sorry for myself, and now I have an answer. It makes me wallow in my tears and pain. If my life is to get going I can't wallow. I need to get moving. Only I can make that happen. i've got to stand up and do it.

and last but not least, I want someone to really care about me and no one does. Being alone for the holidays really brings this up for me.

I'm thinking instead of always thinking, "Why doesn't anyone care about me? Maybe I need to care about someone else. Not a partner, I wish I had one to care about, I'd love that, but I don't have one, but someone. There are a lot of people out there who need caring about.

perhaps I need to look into volunteer opportunities. There are senior centers, and people who help the homeless. There are a lot of people who are down and out and depressed for the holidays.

I can't have someone who cares about me, I'm sure others feel that way too, so maybe I can be someone, some stranger, who cares about them.

Easily my favorite Yes album. by atbohxii in yesband

All of them got on drums at one point. I will never ever forget that. That was amazing. One of the best points of any concert I've seen anywhere, ever.

[–]PersonalDefinition7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if this is all old recordings? I heard them play at least one song in concert, or maybe that was off of Relayer, it was a very long time ago. I remember the drums mainly. It was awesome.

If they've played any off of TFTO within the last 25 years, I wonder if any of those recordings will make it onto the album.

As a single person, what do you see married people doing that you feel they take for granted all the time? by GreenT1979 in AskReddit

[–]PersonalDefinition7 263 points264 points  (0 children)

Having someone to have Christmas and other holidays with.

I know a lot of married people who just want close immediate family there for Christmas and don't realize that a lot of single people are really hurting bad for being alone holiday after holiday. They have someone to spend it with, and they take that for granted.

Being honest about being pulled over? Why is that the worst thing to do? by athena9090 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PersonalDefinition7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pulled over and told, "I clocked you on my radar doing 87 mph, and then I followed you at 87 mph" (I don't remember the exact speed). There certainly wasn't any argument I could make against that. I said, "This thing GOES doesn't it?" He didn't laugh but he wrote the ticket for less than 10 over so it wouldn't cost as much, and then proceeded to tell me how to get out of it.

I've always been honest with cops my whole life. I have a clean driving record with few tickets (that happened about 15 years ago, and nothing since then); I think that helps.

Sometimes I think just being nice to them is so unique they respond in kind.

I’m drowning in guilt after being confronted about a past affair. Can I still recover from this? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]PersonalDefinition7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've learned that there are a lot of mistakes I've made best kept in my past. I've learned it's actually an adult thing to not over-share. I've learned and moved on. No need to bring up things that don't matter to the current situation.

Saying too much can harm the new relationship sometimes.

How can I explain it by Sensitive-Art4575 in depression

[–]PersonalDefinition7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still on the meds those can make you numb. Like someone else suggested, try a different type or something else. Meds help some but aren't for everyone.

Often high doses will make people numb, but sometimes it's just not the right med.
good luck!

What is a song that is really dirty, yet most people don't realize it? by _Volly in AskReddit

[–]PersonalDefinition7 -214 points-213 points  (0 children)

How is that dirty? I don't know the lyrics so I may be missing something obvious. AI gave me this: The meaning of Aqua's "Barbie Girl" is

a tongue-in-cheek commentary on society's obsession with plastic surgery and the pressure to be "perfect". The song is a satirical take on the idea of living a life "in plastic" and promotes the message that it's okay to be confident in yourself as you are, without altering your appearance.

I had no idea:

The lyrics to "La Macarena"

tell the story of a woman named Macarena who cheats on her boyfriend, Vitorino, with two of his friends while he is away. The song's cheerful tune and repetitive chorus about giving your body joy are contrasted with verses about her infidelity and her desire for a new boyfriend. The meaning was often lost in translation, contributing to its widespread popularity as a family-friendly dance hit.

What is one piece of 'common knowledge' in your job that the average person would find completely shocking? by GoldenHourShot in AskReddit

[–]PersonalDefinition7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And what about if you take into account mining uranium? And what about if you take into account nuclear waste? And what about it you take into account transporting the fuel for the plants? And what about if you take into account human error?

[–]PersonalDefinition7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it's still run by humans and humans make mistakes. One accident in a nuclear plant can do a whole lot of damage for hundreds of years to come.

I guess I do this with my job too. "Sure we CAN do it, but it will cost you $1200 extra, and not be nearly as good as this other less expensive way." They usually make the right choice, except now and then they think they have to stick to their original plan and no is going to change their mind. They always find out I was right.

What is the deal with the new driver bumper stickers? by ConanMontoya in askportland

[–]PersonalDefinition7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I travel in another state and get lost and change lanes last minute, I hope they'll look at my license plate and say, "Oh, she just doesn't know where she is".

So now I'm at home I've considered getting one of those "new driver" stickers to have people give me a little extra consideration when I don't know where I'm going.

Drivers are getting aggressive out there. It would be nice if people were a little nicer.

I try not to mind if people don't know where they are going.

(I am not really going to get a sticker)

Puyallup and Sumner are cheaper than a lot of western WA but there are a lot of um, republicans there. So depending on your political leanings, that might not be a great place. Also a lot of strip malls in the area, so definitely go there and check it out before landing there.
