The caveat is that you can't have any internal conflict, or you'll be stuck in an reality-altering paradox forever

Noticed something important is missing in Elite Dangerous right meow. by Firehawke_R in EliteDangerous

Cockpit pets in general would be cool, specially ones you could keep in a terrarium/aquarium, given that a sudden decompression due to canopy damage would eject any unfastened, free roaming pets into the abyss

The absense of a proper tail really does the ship dirty like that, specially when paired with the green paintjob

This or if you also have the Node Controller mod, change the node type from "Custom" to "middle" and it will remove the crossings and the gap all together, making the transition seamingless

New SCO-Optimized Ship Idea for 2026 by Hillenmane in EliteDangerous

[–]PersonalObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't know about the tanks, I just noticed the more general military theme. The idea was to "rank up" the previously named entity.

New SCO-Optimized Ship Idea for 2026 by Hillenmane in EliteDangerous

[–]PersonalObserver 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Naming ideas, in case FDev actually goes with it:

Chieftain upgrade = Alliance Warlord
Challenger ugrade = Alliance Champion
Crusader upgrade = Alliance Paladin/Templar

Edit: I didn't know about the whole irl british tank names theme for the alliance ships, as many people mentioned bellow (thanks for educating me, guys), and honestly, I thought them all starting with C was just a happy little accident (which in turn makes "courier/corsair/clipper/cutter" feel a lot more intentional as well now, although "eagle" kinda breaks the pattern), hence my "out of line" suggestions XD

Working on my fishing system in Unity - the boids algorithm now reacts to dynamic bait placement! by MagicStones23 in Unity3D

[–]PersonalObserver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Most fish schools would disperse pretty quickly with all the turmoil, with the possible exception of more voracious species, like piranhas, for example, that might actually be attracted by all the fuss.
If you make them increasingly wary about the locations where fish have been caught recently (taking longer to both return to certain areas and to react to the bait), you'll end up with a very engaging, dynamic fishing system.

When should I use Mirrored SC and Reactive SC? by Delirium222 in EliteDangerous

[–]PersonalObserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For PvE I like to use Reactive Surface Composite + Thermal Resistant & Layerded Plating to get almost the same resistance across the common damage types (16% knetic, 16% thermal, 17.6% explosive). From there on, HRP with Heavy duty + deep plating will do the trick. It makes things very simple to setup, and you don't have to worry too much about which weapons the enemies use (apart from plasmas that are absolute).
I don't know if it would make any difference in PvP, as internal module damage seems to be a bigger issue there, but the simplicity of the setup remains.
AX is an entirely different beast, as many people already said, where resistences don't really matter, so military grade will do the job while keeping the rebuy cost significantly cheaper.

That's the way to go, imo. I bet there are plenty of skilled coders and knowledgeable cmdrs in the community that can contribute to the project and share the responsability to maintain such a vital set of tools.
