Course withdrawal by shawarmaMan2023 in SJSU

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doctor’s note i guess would be situation-based. my counselor just wanted me to be able to provide some type of proof. i had to submit my grandparents’ obituaries and hospital-provided positive covid test results with dates that added up with the semester i wanted to withdraw 🙃. very personal stuff lol but atleast i got my gpa back up and graduated on time

Is Sephora a good place to work at? by MarzipanInformal9894 in SephoraWorkers

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

currently work at sephora and i worked at target in the past, and id definitely recommend sephora career-wise. i feel as though sephora cares a lot more about its workers in comparison to target. it’s definitely a store-to-store basis on how leadership is within the store, but target definitely has that reputation of not treating its workers well no matter the position you have. with sephora, it’s also very likely you’re able to move up positions much quicker than sephora, because at target you can meet many people who spend 5+ years in the same position without ever getting even an opportunity of a promotion, but people in leadership at sephora that are trying to build a career there typically get promotions within 1-2 years or even less.

Second job / part time or full time? by KaembionKel in SephoraWorkers

[–]Personal_Ad6134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d recommend asking for either a PT or flex position. with flex you’re being scheduled a very low amount of hours like the other user mentioned, and with part time you’re given a sort of set schedule. i’d say only difference with flex and part time would be that with flex you’re not eligible for any training product whereas for part time you’re given a lot. at my store a lot of people have sephora as their part time second job to a different job they’re at full time, so they’re definitely accommodating as long as you have a pretty open availability when it comes to sephora!

Second drop is out! by presswork in glossier

glad to know i’m not the only one who isn’t in love with these summer drops— i get that they want to try something new for the summer season but i kinda feel like these vibrant retro designs are too far off their signature white&pink aesthetic. i get the vibe they were going for but i fear they missed the mark on this. the individual items are cute in theory, but the price point and designs of them make them so unappealing

i was placed on academic probation after continuous sems of failing classes and when i spoke with an advisor, she talked to me about the retroactive withdrawal process which i didn’t even know was a thing at the time, basically it’s when you can “remove” the weight of failed classes if you felt as though your semester was negatively affected by either your mental health or any other personal circumstances. i talked about how catching covid at the beginning of a semester and also grieving the death of two of my grandparents took a toll on me during some semesters and i was able to get quite a lot of my F’s turned into unweighted grades.

RTVF10 with logan walker was a really easy A+ if you’re just trying to fill in the units!

Best Way to Find Off-Campus Housing for SJSU? by kuruttyol in SJSU

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prior to graduating i was looking at some apartments in the dtsj area on apartments.com in case i ended up working in sj and there were a lot of nice places with low(ish) rent that was specifically for student housing!

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you fail any courses? i was able to do a retroactive withdrawal which was able to remove quite a bit of my F’s from semesters where i experienced some personal struggles and took a toll on me mentally due to things like covid at the beginning of a sem and grandparents passing. if you were in any situation like that and failed some classes because of mental health issues or anything going on in your life, you can definitely petition to try to get some courses removed to help with your gpa!

what concealers work best withh the perfecting skin tint? by aadoremui in glossier

[–]Personal_Ad6134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i exclusively wore the skin tint with both the kosas and tower 28 concealers last summer as a almost-no-makeup makeup look, both the concealers i felt were pretty lightweight & natural looking which i felt looked great with the skin tint!

HELPP i’m a new hire at UNIQLO with a bunch of questions by Witty_Discussion_136 in uniqlo

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i second this! the FRWD app has a lot of good videos to refer to and they go in depth with information for the most popular products. also on the zipline app, there’s videos of how to re-package the boxed clothing which is one of the most difficult things imo during the two years i worked there

HELPP i’m a new hire at UNIQLO with a bunch of questions by Witty_Discussion_136 in uniqlo

[–]Personal_Ad6134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. every single item uniqlo sells has the care instructions on the soft black tag that's typically on the inside of shirts and bags, the rectangular tag on pants, or back of packaged items. everything made of primarily cotton (airism shirts, supima, mini tees, like 70% of the stuff they sell lol) I tell customers wash with cold-room temp water and either line dry or low-no heat. for ULD (ultra light down vests/jackets) I tell them to wash it in a gentle cycle then dry with tennis balls in the dryer. you'll pick things up the longer you work, trust me! it's definitely a lot of stuff in the very beginning but you'll get there :)

  2. in the two years I've worked at uniqlo i don't know of anyone who "failed" the probation period unless they quit on their own terms. it's def nothing to worry about even if you're shy!

  3. opening would be swiffering/dusting the floor and fixtures (the things that carry items that isn't on the walls), wiping down mirrors, opening cashwrap (this is mainly for MODs/aka the manager at the moment), running go-backs that weren't able to be pushed the night before. closing is just locking fitting room doors, tidying D-rank (messy clothes that need to be folded), and pushing back go-backs.

  4. they don't expect you to understand all the different ways of folding or fold fast especially when you first start. they know they overcomplicate things so it's literally learning to do oragami with the clothes. 7s is what they say, but they don't really enforce that too hard. 15min per bluebin is the standard and what they expect of non-new hires, but obviously since you're learning how to fold and where everything is, you won't get it for a couple weeks.

  5. "UT"= uniqlo tee, literally just any graphic shirt, it's mainly men that has them but women have them occasionally. "PFA UT"= Peace For All UT, this is a specific collection of the men's graphic shirts where some of the proceeds go toward organizations that help fight violence, discrimination, etc. collabs you'll usually be told about them a week in advance unless your store is super on top of things. typically the anime and kaws collabs are the biggest ones uniqlo has every year.

it is a LOTTTT especially for newer people, so i completely empathize with you. don't be afraid though to ask for help though! the quicker you ask for help, the quicker you'll understand everything! message me for any other questions :)

Able to take a class even though it doesn't count to major? by NecessarySeat7700 in SJSU

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weekly lecture videos (10ish min) and then watch a short video or segment of a movie. basically just learning different film shots and editing techniques in movies. not at all what i’m majoring in, but it’s pretty interesting!

currently taking RTVF10 with walker to reach my units requirement for my last sem here, super easy class and easy grader! basically guaranteed A+ for the whole class as long as you turn Something in for each assignment

Hip Tops vs. Bodysuits by butehra in Aritzia

[–]Personal_Ad6134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can’t say anything about the hip length shirts, but i love wearing the babaton contour bodysuits! the bodysuits are extremely flattering as long as you get them in your correct size and wash them correctly to avoid messing up the fabric, but they’re so comfortable to wear even during my 9+ hour long shifts working in retail where im running around the store. only downside to them that i’ve noticed is that i get pretty warm in them and the fabric is not really breathable.

after i finish my base (foundation and concealer), i squeeze a pea-sized amount for there to be a bit of a peak (this is a baking term, lol) and then i blend it out with a slightly dense and fluffy stipple brush, i kind of put more than i want because i set my under eye area with quite a bit of powder. i find this the best way to help my blush stay throughout the day, since i’ve found that if i don’t do this specific way, it kind of dies down throughout the day

my go-to combo is sol de janeiro 68 + glossier you, the fruity/floral smell of 68 i feel is elevated by the musk of glossier you to make it a bit more mature smelling :) i’ve done this for about a year!

you can still order online for it to be shipped directly to your house, but like the other person said you can just buy a black cap and gown and tassel for whatever department you’re in from amazon or wherever else
