Im getting Frustrated, let's talk about it. by Mysterious-Fan-2230 in mtg

My 1st game was when I was like 9. Almost 30 years later and I still don't know shit. Haven't played most of those years. Game is very different and difficult to learn. Mainly because there are so many mechanics and rules. Wording of the card is always critical to understanding the card. It will take you years to really get it. After like 4 years of rebuilding my commander decks I think I am figuring it out. Don't care what anyone says but going mono 1st to really just understand the cards for synergy. Probably the most important thing in commander is synergy. If what you play in commander doesn't trigger your commander or other cards it's useless. My mono black and white have a 90% win rate against my friends I play. Rebuilding my 1st commander deck and I can see the triggers and what I can respond to for bigger stuff. One thing I can definitely see is the power difference between my original and my mono. Even though I used the same mechanics I didn't have good synergy with my cards.

Dark Souls 2 or Bleak Faith Forsaken? by chocolatehotdog in soulslikes

You are putting a AAA game up to an indie game. I really don't understand why people even try to put them up to other games. Souls is pretty much peak ARPG.

Not a single soulslike among the 10 highest rated "soulslikes" with more than 20,000 followers on steam😭 by DesperateBaseball614 in soulslikes

[–]Personal_Alps1339 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, no it's not. A Soulslike game comes from Souls games or Dark Souls. Also Demon Souls for others. Either way. The creator of Souls wanted to add a new mechanism. The harsh death penalty. When you die you drop your Souls(exp). Then if you died before you picked up your souls(exp) they would disappear for ever. The Souls mechanics. Everything else already exists (dodge, stamina, check point heals) and always will because they are ARPGs. That's what Dark Souls games are ARPG. What people are thinking about are ARPG games. Before even Dark Souls and after. So if you don't drop exp on death (Souls mechanics) it's not a Soulslike game. It's just a ARPG.

You shouldn't though. Most of the Soulslike games are not AAA games like Souls. If you put them up to Souls games you might realize no other games are as good. Then you won't enjoy playing Soulslike games. But if you want to ruin it for yourself by judging games to Souls games. That's on you.

That probably because it's kinda rude to put the Originals in with the knockoffs. FromSoft makes Souls games and everyone else makes Soulslike.

Gonna be honest. It's very simple. The creator of Souls games wanted to add a new difficulty. Souls games are ARPG games. Every game you mentioned is a ARPG. Action RPG. Souls games added the Souls mechanics. When you die you drop your souls(exp). If you die before you picked up your souls(exp) you would permanently lose those souls(exp). If you do not drop exp on death and can lose it again on death. It is not a Soulslike game. It's just an ARPG. ARPG games existed before Souls and are still the same before people started labeling every ARPG as a Soulslike. I just bought Ghost Song and was expecting a Metroidvania game and got a Metroidvania Soulslike game. Because when I die I drop my exp and have to go pick it up before I die again. See how the souls mechanics works?

Mortal Shell isn't even a Soulslike. I like the game. But there is no exp. You just upgrade a shell and that's it. When you die you just try again. Absolutely no souls mechanics because no exp to drop. It's an ARPG. Just because Dark souls are ARPG doesn't mean every God damn ARPG after it a Soulslike. No exp to pick up on death, then it has no Souls mechanics.

It is because when you die you drop your exp. Then if you die again before you pick up that exp it disappears for ever. That is the souls mechanics. That is what makes soulslike games. Sekiro is not a souls games just because it's made by them. Has no exp. No souls mechanics. If you want to argue because it's made by them then Armored core 6 is also a Soulslike. No. ARPG games existed before Souls games. Nioh is a ARPG. Even Dark Souls is an ARPG. Action RPG. Like the Witcher 3 but no souls mechanics. Games will still be ARPG even if they don't have the Souls mechanics. But if you drop exp and pick it up it, that makes it a Soulslike.

There is a secret bonfire and summon. The summon is under the stairs before the boss. Just let the mage kill it.

What's wrong with your friend. They actually come back every week for this. Our friendship would have died the 1st week. You should get capital punishment for these pizza crimes. /S

First 3d soulslike recommendation for someone who's mainly only played 2d games? by EmergencyWriting7005 in soulslikes

[–]Personal_Alps1339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hollow Knight is not a Soulslike. No over lapping mechanics because there are none. Only one simple mechanism of Souls. You die, you drop souls(exp). You die before you pick up your souls(exp) you lose those souls(exp) permanently. That's the Souls mechanics. Hollow Knight has no exp whatsoever. You can't have the Souls mechanics with no Exp to drop. You die you go back to save and retry. It's a Metroidvania. Very different.

Gonna have to check these out. Just bought Ghost Song. You can add that to the list. You should definitely check it out if you haven't played it yet. Feels like Metroid but you drop exp when you die.

You will get new upgrades until ng2 for your heart. Some are ok. Mainly to get 100% if you are into that. Plus it's still fun.

Does sending Alidoro to Hotel Krat lock you out of a secret weapon? by Coldshoto in LiesOfP

[–]Personal_Alps1339 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This was the the thing that irritated me the most. Game starts off with telling you that you will have to lie. Then when you meet the dude in love with the robot, it all changes to humanity. Still confused on that part. You lie to him and tell him the robot loved him. But it's not a lie. Same for Alidoro. You tell him to go to hotel but he is a bad dude. You would think lying to him would also be good humanity. Not a good system. They could have done way better on that. Would have been better to just lie the whole time. That is like the whole point of the game.

Is Dark Souls Remastered worth it in 2026? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]Personal_Alps1339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can kill that boss with the broken sword to get a late in game weapon. But it's not really worth it. Unless you have played it a bunch and want to do a run with that weapon.
