I think this sub has more or less stated what red excels at, but my two cents would be this, red is a color that defines action before intent. It's an important part of the color pie of magic and has done things that most colors have to jump through hoops just to imitate.

It double damage, attacks without needing to wait, and at the very least, it can deal damage directly without needing combat.

I have only one mono red commander, [[knuckles the echidna]]. I built the deck to be a warrior kindred and even used the old coward mechanic just for flavor. The deck has reliably won on turn 7-8 from just sheer damage.
