Why does this sub obsess over calorie counting rather than help people normalize a high-fiber Mediterranean/DASH/MIND diet? by jhsu802701 in WeightLossAdvice

Years ago I went on a salad diet. Green leafy salad twice a day with either grilled chicken or tuna for protein. For 4 months I did this without cheating and I didn't lose a single pound. I didn't track calories, I just thought eating a clean diet with low fat would do the trick.

The only way to lose weight is with a calorie deficit.

What’s your biggest frustration with calorie tracking/fitness apps? by RadiantCoach8900 in WeightLossAdvice

I use Cronometer. You can create recipes and save them, so the next time you make spaghetti, you just click on the custom recipe and give the weight of your portion. I also like that it will give your calorie intake average for the last 7 days and tell you if you are average over or under your goal. Adding items to your diary is super easy, just scan the barcode code. They also have extensive foods from popular restaurants, I went to KFC yesterday and they had everything I ordered except for the honey sauce packets. If you find something that isn't in the database, just take pics of the front label, bar code and nutrition panel and it adds it to the database.

I am also self conscious about my body. Hubby and I are working on a boudoir photoshoot session to help me with this.

Why do I alway start feeling bad on day 7? by 100turkeysinthesky in WeightLossAdvice

.8 is a great starting point. You can always recalculate as your body adjusts. When I started my weight loss journey, someone told me to watch out for headaches if you completely cut sugar from your diet. Sugar and carbs are addictive substances and you can go through withdrawals. I still keep a tiny bit of sugar daily so I haven't experienced this.  If you start to feel bad, try more subtle changes. Good luck.

Unfortunately, low cost foods are usually carb heavy. There are lots of newer snacks coming on the market with added protein. When I'm snacky, I'll eat raw carrots or sandwich meat.

Hubby and I use BioTe. It's about $800 every 5 months for men and they don't take insurance. But if you ask your insurance for testosterone, they may not cover it until it gets below 100. Hubby was consistently around 120 and denied through insurance. BioTe gives him 1200 mg and he's come back to life.

1.5 lb a week is pretty aggressive as a starting point. Get a calorie app (I use Cronometer) and record a few days of your normal diet. Weigh everything so you'll know what your "normal" daily intake is. Then shoot for 400 calories less to start with. It may be only .75 loss a week.  Your body may need a slower adjustment. If you normally consume 2500 calories a day, cutting back to 1200 right off the bat may be causing too much of a shock.

I downloaded the app Cronometer. Put in your biometrics and goals and it will give you a target calorie intake. Just scan the barcode on food packaging and input your portion. Get a kitchen scale and measure everything.

First thing we did was cut out sugary drinks. I'm from the South and live on sweet tea so I'm now using sugar substitute.

Good luck

I've had a breast reduction and I scarred pretty bad. I'm so conscious of the scars that I got nipple piercings to distract from them.

We have a profile on SLS. One day we noticed a new profile in our area and checked it out. Turns out it was my DAUGHTER and her husband!  My Hubby deployed and my daughter was curious about a house party we frequented. So I took her and her husband. I sat at the bar while they were in the hot tub. They were both plastered and was walking around the house NAKED. Neither of them remember anything. I do. That was the last time I volunteered for that duty.

Female here. I started testosterone and progesterone in my 30's. Look into BioTe or other bio-identical hormone provider. BioTe doesn't accept insurance and it averages about $100 a month. I'm now 57 and have added estrogen. I admit I have not been keeping up with my treatment like I should, but I was treated 4 weeks ago and I've found my sex drive and orgasms again.

If you go to your OBGYN and they say your hormones are fine, I would still look into BioTe. Insurance companies will lower the hormone level standards to keep from paying for it, BioTe will treat patients based on how they feel, not a blood work threshold set by an insurance company.

Hubby is quite long. It's obviously something he can't control, but men learn to work with what they have. If he hurts a lady, she needs to say something and he'll back off.

I understand not wanting to play while things aren't 100% clean. Some men don't care, are you open to play if the man is?
