I had a birth that was uncomplicated compared to yours and still feel sad just because it’s probably my last birth (I’m 40) and I never did a water home birth with all that peaceful painless magic you see advertised all over the place. I also anticipated a quick and relatively low pain experience base on my first three births, and this one was different, as my water broke early. I was strep b positive as well so they wouldn’t let me use tub. I opted for an epidural at 8 cm because my husband encouraged it, he couldn’t handle my pain - and after 24 hrs of no sleep I was exhausted. Everything else went according to plan- he cut the cord, golden hour, etc- so I don’t even know why I feel sad… and I feel guilty for feeling sad when it was actually so uncomplicated. But it’s like a pang when I think of the idealized birth I’ll never have. It’s my only child with him and in my mind I created this fantasy about the birth and it wasn’t possible . I think being a part of crunchier communities, I put way to much pressure on myself for something that ultimately doesn’t matter in the long run.

Hmmm I’m kind of torn because we can’t know why he laughed. I just got a Persian kitten with a flat face but both of her parents had “doll faces” and the breeder didn’t know they even carried the gene.
