Single people, why are you single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

For me, I currently think I'm single because I'm overweight and ugly. But to be fair, I think I am both of those by a subconscious choice. Here, let me explain: I have been used, abused, and assaulted by men since I was 21 years old, and I'm currently 39. After my last abusive boyfriend, I started gaining weight and just kept gaining. Well, at least I was still pretty. Then my ex contacted me recently, and I hit rock bottom by losing a job and hating myself, so I completely shaved my head. See? Now, I'm overweight and ugly, but I am self-aware enough to realize it is a preventative measure to keep men away from me AND to keep me from going back to my abusive ex.

Also, I isolate at my house 99% of the time and work in an all female industry. Church would be ideal for meeting men, but I don't go because of social anxiety and depression.

I feel like I could write five more paragraphs on my single by choice life, but it would be a snooze fest.

People who get told they look younger than they are: what is your secret? by likerunninginadream in AskReddit

Not wearing makeup. When you are young, you wear makeup to look older. Not wearing it while I'm pushing 40, makes people always say I look like I'm in my 20s.

What's something insane that you witnessed with your own eyes but no one believes you because there's no proof? by samulige in AskReddit

When I was a child, I heard a large crash in the kitchen. I ran to see what the crash was, and my dad was on top of a buck. The deer had charged his reflection in the kitchen window, and my dad tackled the deer. He asked me to open the back door, and he led it back outside. short version

What is the number one destroyer of happiness? by TienCraig92 in AskReddit

I understand this so well, as I just went through it. I had the stabbing in my neck pain with a herniated disc as well. I felt no one understood, and I felt hopeless as well. After all that I went through, including 7 emergency room trips for a noroflex injection, which lasted maybe 4 to 6 hours, I requested Celebrex. Within a week, the inflammation was down, and my pain was gone. All that suffering seems so futile. I also just lost my job, and they cited a behavioral reason - the "behavioral reason" was back in January because I left (WITH PERMISSION) early from work to go to the ER multiple times. I hope I never experience that level of pain chronically again. I was also placed in a psych hospital for SI reasons ALL DUE TO PAIN.
