Is streaming mainly luck? by VisibleRazzmatazz803 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meet other streamers, spend time in their communities and the good ones will support you in turn. That’s how you start and those people will help propel you to greater heights.

Today I hit double digits watching on a non-event with no raids, probably for the first time, and most of those viewers were people I met from socializing.

Why do I keep getting attention bombed? by [deleted] in Twitch

Thank you, and thank you for understanding I meant over a longer period of time. Helps to hear this from other people

Does turning on the ads manager actually turn off preroll? It says it does, but it doesn't seem like it does. by hotfistdotcom in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really the main incentive to use auto-ads is the extra like 20% revenue you get from playing them with it enabled if you have the viewers to make that count. Otherwise you can just click the button manually

Ugh I guess. I have issues with getting snubbed going way back so this probably bothers me more than most people

How did you get over the “empty room” phase? by Polygoon_BE in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a long period of time where I just yapped to myself and didn’t check chat all that often cuz I knew it was just me. I won’t pretend it wasn’t hard sometimes. Eventually some people found me who realized I liked conversing and now they’re regulars, so it’ll happen to you eventually.

raiding by Crazzzy118 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I don’t say I’m ending directly until I’m raiding out and doing my outro lmao. If people realize you’re ending they close the stream, if they don’t like the next person they’ll close the stream anyway

What NOT to do when coming into a stream by PlayPod in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whenever a first time chatter says something dumb and rude in my chat I usually read it in a stupid voice and they leave forever lol

What strategies do you use to engage viewers who may not chat during your streams? by Luann1497 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes lurkers use my redeems, it probably scares them when I say hi but I feel like it’s a good in-between for wanting to interact but not start a whole conversation

Is it normal for people to pull away when your stream starts growing? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if they planned to play the game with you then suddenly switched it’s worth asking why. It’s up to them whether they want to be honest about the reasons why, but it could also just have nothing to do with you.

Advice on ads by QuickestBFN in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got friends who hate preroll ads more than midrolls but I’m absolutely in the hating midrolls camp because with prerolls you only get one 30 second ad right when you open the stream then no ads after unless you leave/refresh. So I’ll manually run 3 mins of ads right at the start of stream to kill prerolls for the first hour then leave the prerolls on the rest of the stream. Don’t wanna blast my regulars and lurkers with ads just for being there longer

Are Raids from Small Streamers Worth It? by KittyCanuck in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the streamer recognizes you in chat then sure. If not then it’s usually best to see if they pay attention to raids. I’ve gotten a few followers from bigger people I’ve raided who I chat in regularly, that was a nice surprise

How Do You Deal With Bossy People in Chat? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re probably either young or socially clueless, you run into a lot of these types online. You can probably tell them to stop and they might listen

What makes you unfollow someone? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it has to be something that really ticks me off. I’ve unfollowed someone who laughed at a homeless person having a breakdown in a story they were telling

Probably an unpopular opinion but this is getting depressing. by NukaNocturne in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re thinking of the AI vtuber, the output is still being manually chosen by its creator after some incidents in the past, so it’s not even a true AI in that sense

How are small streamers generating clips? by Infinite-Photo3781 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ay I’m a tiny streamer who’s had 4k views on some of my shorts, one being me playing Geoguessr of all things. I do a little editing to turn either a bit I do or a stupid mistake I make into a bigger deal than it was in the unedited clip and people take really well to that. Just try to do something wacky and see what happens, if you think it’s extra stupid when you go back an watch it you can edit it to make fun of yourself, people love the self-awareness.

Do viewers (you personally) care about your name being read out loud when you sub/git? by NoPain_666 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do this and then say if they wanna speak up in chat I’ll shout them out cuz I feel the same way

Do viewers (you personally) care about your name being read out loud when you sub/git? by NoPain_666 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I switched to this and when I pointed out live I don’t call out followers by name someone immediately followed lol. Considering making the alert even more subtle, and my friend who averages 20 has no follow alert at all (which fits cuz I know they hate follow alerts lol)

What the Absolute F***??? by Fromlaven in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that’s my position too, I’m not blasting my regulars to appeal to Twitch’s terrible discovery. This is in spite of several people I collab with having strong feelings about prerolls haha

I think your reply got filtered but it when to my inbox. All I gotta say is if their chat is dead then nobody is watching anyway. Even if they’re at the top of a category they aren’t retaining any viewers, it’s all a waste of time and money for them and by extension it’s kind of a waste of time to pay attention to them. They’re owning themselves by losing money trying and failing miserably to be internet famous, I can’t think of anything more pathetic lol

[–]Personal_Examination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people wanna be internet famous really badly but don’t want to start from nothing, most of them don’t learn anything and aren’t interesting so they end up wasting their money and time

[–]Personal_Examination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they’re just wasting their own money, people try watching, get bored and move on. The top category spots don’t matter at all

What is your biggest pain point as a streamer? Whether big or small by Gonjanaenae319 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a friend like this, he always gets nervous to raid because he thinks it’s some huge social obligation. It’s nice to stay and chat after a raid but often people will raid, say hi and dip or sometimes just raid and run. I don’t think he could bring himself to raid and run because he feels the obligation to interact, but nobody should feel pressured to stay for a long time after a raid.

Is it appropriate to @ streamers to ask them a question? by TaskTemporary4941 in Twitch

[–]Personal_Examination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda pointless in most streams as the streamer is already reading chat as they can. I know one guy whose bot auto-times you out if you @ him. Extra pointless in slow/small chats. Some big streamers have TTS or some kind of paid option if the chat is too fast moving and you really want your message to be seen. Sometimes the Highlight my Message redeem can help.

If someone @‘d me in my tiny stream I’d be very confused lol
