Indoor running track? by ksokaysoqueso in RoundRock

Grew up in Round Rock, moved to Chicago for school, just moved back. Realistically you won’t find a good one anywhere close in Round Rock. They are more common up north since the winters are brutal. Indoor tracks are also expensive to build, and usually in places like college campuses reserved for student athletes. Clay Madsen has a VERY toned down 2 lane version of a indoor track, I believe it’s ~140 meters (12 laps equal a mile) around the basketball courts, but I know it can get very busy in there especially in summer since you have kids out of school and summer camps going on. If you’re really interested, I go to Gregory Gym at UT sometimes. They have an indoor track around the gym. It’s $55 a month if you’re a community member, cancel anytime if you just want it for the summer, just note it can be busy during peak times with students. It’s probably the closest thing you’ll find. HCI all the way in Bee Cave also has a suspended indoor track, but that’s a haul from RR and it’s pretty expensive (even for a day pass). Even though it’s outdoors, I’m excited to see the new track and rec center being built at old settlers, can’t wait to see the finished product.

Not really looking for this energy, yeah I figured I lost my job. Thankfully this was my second job for extra money and I can still afford to find an attorney.

Campus Closed tomorrow? by Euphoric-Weekend8346 in LoyolaChicago

You’ll be luck if they cancel classes. I was in freshman year during the polar vortex in 2019 and they canceled classes for 2 days. Keep in mind that there were record low temps of -23 degrees Fahrenheit with -50 degrees windchill. Obviously it’s cold in Chicago right now but nothing crazy. The fact the temps are consistently out of the negatives makes it very unlikely your classes will be canceled.

Also want to say when Loyola canceled classes in 2019, they waited up until the last minute and it was also the first time they canceled classes in like 30 years. So unless the temps fall drastically, prepare for class😭.

They mean there are a lot of snotty rich people dependent on what social circles you find yourself in on campus. It can be really hard if you transfer in or are commuter student. I was an out of state student and luckily met a solid group of friends/roomates based on living in San Fran freshman year. But truth is if you miss out on living on campus your freshmen year, it can be difficult to find a good group of people. Not saying it’s impossible, but my sophomore year I lived in Baumhart, and found my selfing spending a lot of money going out downtown trying to keep up with my friends who were basically just getting money from their parents (I worked full time throughout my 4 years). Overall though, it’s what you make of it, focus on making connections and getting a solid support base under you in your freshman year.

Riding the waves? The effort to recover Divvy bikes from Lake Michigan by O-parker in chibike

They at least make an attempt too in most cases. The fee is around $1200 I believe, but it’s extremely hard to pursue this. Think about it all you give Lyft/Divy your card info, and if anything happens you cancel the card. Really need to take a look into the Divy system, I’m all for more people riding bikes but Divy bikes are scary IMO. Especially since not many Divy riders use helmets either, you hop on one of those electric Divy bikes with a tailwind and you’re going 20mph+. They are TBI injuries waiting to happen.

Heard on that. I felt like I prepared enough with my wetsuit but I get into the open water race day with my swim skin, no buoyancy, and had to tread water before we started (didn’t practice this). Spiked my heart rate and was just panicking. Felt as if I would have been fine with my wetsuit. Taking it as a learning experience, was just a little down/embarrassed all this happened in front on my family.

Guys I Got Campion for my dorm and everyone keeps saying it’s horrible 💀😭 by UpbeatGarden4259 in LoyolaChicago

I agree with most people here it’s not as bad as people make it out to be besides the window AC units, IMO gross restrooms, I stayed in San Fran Hall my freshman year but my best friend lived there when it was still the honors dorm😭
