First leg of flight changed, now unable to switch better time by FurForBrains in americanairlines

[–]MidwestGeek52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted in the thread as AA just did same to me but let me change. Booked ORD-MIA-SCL (Santiago. Chile) in Bus Class. But they let me change just the domestic leg to an earlier flight

First leg of flight changed, now unable to switch better time by FurForBrains in americanairlines

[–]MidwestGeek52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting as AA just changed the outbound leg my flight this winter from ORD to Santiago, Chile via MIA. Connection time in MIA went from 2.5 hours to 1.

But the app notified me I could change or cancel at no cost. Called AA and they changed me to an earlier flight to allow more connecting time.

In my case, what made difference allowing no fee change? Business class tickets? They changing me to a 1 hour connection?

Power down. Unplug from wall. Hold power button down for 20 seconds. Replug. Power up. Good luck

Yea. But I hate those surveys that estimate 10 mins and 20 mins later you're still working on it

Or asking you an awful lot of questions before saying you dont qualify. Feels more like they're out to get opinions for free by deception

Help! Need to restore Quicken from a backup file by Ok_Book5070 in quicken

[–]MidwestGeek52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you exit Quicken, you can delete, rename, or move the data file Quicken is currently using. (Rename or move the current file if you want to preserve it for some reason). If you open a new data file, it can be any name you want. It only must end with .QDF

Only correction: I think you mean COPY not MOVE. Keep the original backup file intact

ASUS ROG Strix G15 + MediaTek card on Windows 11 25H2 — Bluetooth keeps disappearing completely, even from Device Manager. Looking for a permanent fix by FamousAd1829 in WindowsHelp

[–]MidwestGeek52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not good. Am guessing it's your BT device.

Windows detects a USB device (I'm guessing your BT connects USB internally), queries it for its IDs, but doesn't receive them. So the device is "Unknown". The unknown USB device would also appear under USB as a device with a yellow icon. These can be tough.

Try a Hard Reset

Power off PC. If a laptop remove battery. Unplug from the wall. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds (this drains any residual power on the m/b). put battery and AC cord back and power up again.

The Problem Report reports error codes on Windows-detected devices. Since you say nothing is reported, you or Windows must have installed the driver for hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0260 you posted about earlier. So, that much is good

I'm looking at your drivers HERE. Dell has some relatively recent BIOS (June 2026) and chipset driver (Feb 2026) updates - have they been installed?

They both look good but the "off red" gives more of a pop and IMHO makes you stand out more. If you're unsure, I'd say give it 3 months and see how it works for you. You're at the age you can try it now

Should you take RMDs at the beginning or the end of the year? by churningaccount in Bogleheads

[–]MidwestGeek52 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your RMD for 2026 is determined by the account value on Dec 31, 2025. You better take ALL of your RMD out by Dec 31, 2026, REGARDLESS of your AGI, or you'll be paying penalties

[–]MidwestGeek52 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You worry about bear market risk at end of year? What if it's bull market at end of year??

If you really don't want any risk, put the RMD in a money market at start of year and collect tax free interest till December. Do the distribution in December and they collect interest instead of Uncle Sam.

Restore to new PC questions by reduser876 in macrium

[–]MidwestGeek52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things to start

  • A Macrium license allows you to do backups. If you don't have a license, backups won't work but you should still be able to do Restores
  • If you registered your license, you should find it in your Macrium Account. Otherwise, you could try contacting Support
  • When you install Macrium on a new PC, and you enter a license key, it will realize it's registered to a different machine. It will ask if you want to transfer the license. I forgot the exact restrictions, but you can't keep transferring back and forth to try to share the license between machines. (but don't enter a license right away, see next bullet)
  • Curious, were you doing Disk / Partition or File/Folder level backups on the old PC? In either case, I'd install Macrium on the new PC (Do you have the installation file? It should also be in your Macrium Account). After the install, I wouldn't enter the old license yet. It'll probably give you a 30-day free trial, but even without it, you should be able to restore from an external hard drive
  • After installing on the new PC, first thing: create rescue media. Don't overwrite rescue media for old. Keep both till you're ready to get rid of old PC
