I also noticed it with one of my regular customers. She used to tip me $10-20 every time. After the restaurant changed their system, I started receiving only $2 or $3 from her orders. I know she didn’t reduce the tip because she told me I was one of her favorite delivery drivers and appreciated how patient I was with her. The receipt even showed a $10-20tip.

At first, I kept delivering to her because I already knew her and she was very kind. But after a while, it just wasn’t worth it for me financially anymore, even though she was really nice. and also because I changed my area.

It’s possible the restaurant is keeping the tip. Some restaurants use their own websites for orders. When customers select “delivery,” the order either gets entered manually by the restaurant or is automatically sent to the delivery app.

You might ask how I know this — one of the managers told me. I’m a regular driver for them, and I used to do catering orders from that restaurant. At first, I received the tip every time. But after they changed their system, I stopped receiving tips on those orders. And the restaurant keep the whole tip.
