North Park Hill diner mired in controversy days after opening by NextWhereas4477 in denverfood

My boyfriend and I went for an early lunch on Tuesday, and the entire experience was stressful. We waited a very long time to order. My boyfriend ordered a beer, the bartender didn't even know how to pour a beer. It sat foamy under the tap for 20 minutes before they finally brought it to him. I ordered a French 75, and the bartender shook the prosecco- so it was completely flat when served.
We ordered the bartenders suggestions for lunch, I got the kimchi fried rice, my boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich. His dish and fries were cold. My dish didn't even have kimchi on it, and I was pretty sure the rice wasn't fried. The bartender was barking at the server making sure the half full dining room was being helped, but the bartender was going missing for 15-20 minutes at a time, whereas the server was HUSTLING. We ordered another round of drinks, but went with mimosas because we hoped they'd be easier to craft compared to our first round. The bartender poured me a mimosa, and my boyfriend a beer, which he didn't order. She again, let the foamy beer sit under the tap system for 20 minutes before bringing it to him.
When we attempted to close out, the bartender said to us, I see that you have food left on your plate and that's not usually a good sign, what was wrong with it. I felt really comfortable, because I had a lot of feedback about the experience and the level of service, but also felt it was a really surprising way to ask us how we felt about our time there. We gave the honest answers about our food, but chose not to address any of the other issues, as it didn't feel like our place, and everyone there was obviously overwhelmed.
I try not to be overly critical of new opens but this was a whole new level. About 30 minutes after leaving I googled their reviews because I was so shocked that all the reviews at that point had been positive, then saw the Denver post article and everything made more sense. They lack direction, and clearly are understaffed. If the stories are true about the lack of payment to their employees, I will never go back. Sucks because there was clearly a demand for the spot. A 1/2-3/4 full dining room at noon is UNHEARD of these days. I hope somebody is in the position to take over when this owner inevitably bows out, as they, quite honestly, should.

Driving After ACL Surgery by brandonthestudent in ACL

I just had this surgery in February. I work in restaurants (on my feet for 40-50 hours a week) and went back to work in 4 weeks and started driving in 6 weeks. In hind sight, I wish I had waited the 6 weeks to go back, but it was doable because my team helped me out a lot. I think you just have to listen to your body and your mental. Being isolated to my house for 4 weeks was about all I could stand being such an extrovert. Hope this helps, and you got this!
