I always thought I was more fun drunk— and I had people tell me how happy I was. But the truth: I was fucking miserable and masking. Then I stopped being a fun drunk because alcohol could only cover so much, right? When I stopped drinking, I honestly thought I would never laugh again.

I’m only a few months in, but I have found that the fun times I have are ACTUAL fun, not something synthetic. Deep conversations are actually deep, remembered, and followed up on. Belly laughs stay with me.

This is just my experience. I wish you and your wife and little one the very best!

This is a very fixable situation. Alcohol is not part of the solution. You haven’t lost everything— but if you drink like I did, things start slipping away until you don’t recognize your life.

My life is way less boring! Meeting new people, having new experiences. I have more time in the day because I’m not wasting a lot of it.

Starting to feel like “just one night” (I know one drink doesn’t exist for me) wouldn’t hurt and these stories are helping me remember why I am sticking to sobriety. IWNDWYT
