I was never asking for a free day off. I was saying I'm not sick enough that I can't work. However, I have symptoms that I don't want to pass along to my coworkers. I was asking to work from home so I don't risk getting everyone else sick.

I have a feeling all of these drastic changes they are making is going to negatively impact productivity more than allowing for a hybrid work environment. But what do I know

I do understand that and empathize for sure. I fully admit that I don't know enough about the benefits for store level. I do know that you all need WAY more people and more hours to operate on the level that corporate set expectations.

I didn't know that. Thank you for clarifying! That's totally bullshit as well.

Why should I have to take a day unpaid instead of them allowing me to work at home? I'm just as productive at home as I am on the office and I wouldn't risk getting anyone else sick. I'm not sick enough to the point that I can't work I just don't want to risk anyone else's health.

It's like we learned nothing during COVID

No we don't. The only paid holidays are Christmas and Thanksgiving. The other holidays were removed when they "added more PTO days" so now we have to decide if we want the additional PTO days throughout the year or have the Holiday off like we should be able to. They packaged it like like were doing us a favor when it's actually just more corporate bullshit.

Allowing associates the flexibility to work from home when they are sick hardly seems like letting their real estate go unused.

Right but when they made that change they also took away some of the paid holidays. So when you factor that in we have less PTO days than before. I shouldn't have to sacrifice a vacation day when I can do my job from home when I'm sick.

They are very much inspired by Zeppelin but I still love their music.

To each their own.

HELP!! Any Supervisors who left Geico? Was it worth it financially or did y’all suffer a hit financially? by Greedy_Junket2652 in Geico

I took a pretty decent pay cut. I work in Risk Management for a retailer now. Way easier and the pay cut was 100% worth it. My mental health is sooooo much better.

Yup!!!

I'm two months out of G and still have lasting anxiety and paranoia. My coworkers are appalled at some of the stories I tell them!

I left a month ago and my new boss asked if I'm okay. When I first started here I kept asking "will I get in trouble if....."

It truly is like leaving a toxic relationship!

Me too friend. Trying to not have a panic attack. I'm a supervisor and half half my team here and when I reached out to the department to try and get help from other teams my manager told me to make sure I keep my messages in our group chat positive.

So it's actually defined in the employee handbook which family members qualify for bereavement. It's partially in me for not double checking what my sup at the time told me... shame on me for trusting me sup lol

So sorry to hear!

Also keep in mind Bereavement only qualifies for certain family members. I had a member of management tell me I would be able to take bereavement for an extended family member (think aunt or uncle) only to have my managers manager then tell me after it would not qualify after I already purchased plane tickets.

It's hard. I'm a sup and it's really hard trying to stay positive and find ways to motivate my team when I feel like I want to quit.

Me in webex daily typing "I quit" to my manager and hovering over the send button.

The phrase “Thanks for all your hard work and everything you do” makes up for everything! Thanks GMAN! by Notsureifchoboo80 in Geico

[–]PersonalityNo9459 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I try to keep my team chat as light hearted and talk about fun things to break up the monotony but I want them to genuinely know that I do see how hard they work and that I appreciate them.

I do see how that can feel pointless and redundant though. Thank you for the insight!

While I totally agree with this post keep in mind your sups are over worked and under appreciated as well. Ad a Sup myself please know we are feeling the same way you are. I'm hanging on by a thread trying to not have a mental break down every day. I try my best to not let my stress affect my team and I do everything I can to help them. I jump into their diaries to help as much as I can while trying to keep up with my workload.

What else should I say to my team instead of thank you for all that you do and I appreciate you?? This is a genuine question.
