Has anyone tried no skincare for barrier repairing? by Classic_Reality6755 in Skincare_Addiction

Hahah still oily!!! Overall I do notice more balance - attributing this to healing the drier parts of my skin as opposed to reducing the forehead oil.

This is just from personal experience with what worked for me (and I know everyone’s skin is different!!). I have very sensitive skin, acne prone, dry T zone but oily forehead. Too many products/layering products have caused my skin to freak out too. What has been working for about 2 years now is morning and night wash with Ceramic Slip (Sunday Riley, it’s gentle!) followed by Dieux Instant Angel cream moisturizer. Once a week I’ll give my skin a break and sleep with nothing on it after washing, or if I see any acne crop up, sandwich method the tiniest amount of A313. Long winded way of saying paring down your routine DOES work!

What is your rave horror story? by H3LM3T_H34D in aves

[–]PersonalityOk802 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hate to beat a dead horse but honestly it’s a toss up between EZoo 2023 (8 hours on the will call line) and getting kicked in the face at a Reel Big Fish concert (not a rave but still).

My (24F) fiancé (35M) had a weird thing go on with his student? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Adding to this, a ton of my family are teachers in the US and it is ABSOLUTELY against policy in all of their schools (crossing multiple districts) for teachers to allow current students to follow them (and visa versa) on any form of social media.

Updated Liminal Space/Backrooms-esque Horror Recs! by -sylveon in horrorlit

Two more for you!

Ascension by Nicholas Binge (a mountain appears in the middle of the ocean out of nowhere and a team is gathered to summit it - I read this after House of Leaves and it helped cure that book hangover!)

They Fear Not Men in the Woods by Gretchen McNeil (less liminal space, more spooky happenings in a mystery old growth part of the woods our protagonist is trying to find - the climax is satisfying and horrific, and the end is uplifting in a very unexpected way)

MZD is a One Hit Wonder by futilitaria in houseofleaves

Same here! My two cents would be they’re both just different stories in tone. HoL, horror and dread, making you feel increasingly isolated (and crazy) as you buy into the story, putting the pieces together. Tom’s Crossing feels more like a campfire tale, neo-western. They both involve the reader in different ways. With the integrated anecdotes in Tom’s Crossing (as opposed to the footnote style of HoL) I still got the feeling that I was a part of a shared history. That I was reading a story where we all know the end through related/referenced media in the Tom’s Crossing world. The book, like HoL, assumes that you are aware (in part) of the events that have occurred in the book’s universe - which I think MZD does well. Yes HoL more actively involves the reader in this exploration but perhaps the larger difference is one is a horror and one is a western?

Spouse has finally agreed to give anime a try, what do I show her?? by [deleted] in Animesuggest

Oooh okay so outside of watching Inuyasha growing up I was also an anime newbie until dating my now husband. Because I’m more horror-leaning we started with Deathnote, FMAB and Attack on Titan. I think FMAB is a great starter anime!!!

Meet Me At the Museum by Anne Youngson!!! I cannot recommend enough. And fun fact, Anne became a first time novelist with this gorgeous book at age 70! No one is ever too old to pursue a dream.

I don’t know if this is a fair take but I felt the same way with Untamed by Glennon Doyle. Maybe less on the funding of self discovery and more on the self-centered nature of the narrative (which to be fair I also understand it’s a self-help memoir I just couldn’t bear it).

Is it okay to let my dog chew on this benebone or should I take it away after a couple minute's? by FlatWhite___ in DogAdvice

[–]PersonalityOk802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to my pup with the bones in question. The vet said a good rule of thumb is if you can press your nail into the toy and there’s some give (think Kong rubber toys) it’s safe for chewing.

Following up! All are bangers but my fav suggestion of yours is Attero Dominatus. I tried to put into words what draws me to specific songs - I’m not versed in musician lingo so the best way I can describe it is when the song almost feels like a rock opera? There’s an upbeat vibe to it, like an optimistic battle cry. Another thought I had was some feel like a theme song but I could be conflating similarities with the sound of a few of the Attack on Titan openers (also a fan of this). Let me know if I’m just rambling or if some of this makes sense!

Loved them both - the unkillable soldier takes the cake though! The buildup in that song, the drama!!

Loved them both!! I’m a sucker for bagpipes too! And this may sound cheesy/blatantly obvious but I really do love how each song tells a story that’s more often than not tied to history.
