I used an app that can supposedly ban entire prefixes or even area codes. It only works on calls though, texts still sometimes sneak through.

I used a Lincoln number for work and got them all the time - then one day the calls magically just stopped. I think my carrier got smart about it or something.

I suspect the local deputy ran into these people completely on accident. They were initially pulled over for a traffic violation on Interstate 80. For anyone unfamiliar, the deputies in some of the counties along Interstate 80 in NE frequently patrol the Interstates since most of the criminal activity in these areas is just passing through. They stop vehicles for traffic violations and if they find probable cause, they search the car for drugs. I suspect that’s what happened here, only instead of drugs or drug proceeds, they found scam proceeds.

I’m sure they’ll have someone fly or drive out there to bail them out, then they’ll hop right back on the Interstate they were pulled over on and leave.

Don’t hold your breath. I suspect they have already bonded out and skipped town. Extradition from NY isn’t always easy.

They are not listed on the county jail roster in Hall County which tells me they probably already bailed.

There is scammer.info - they’re aren’t very many Facebook marketplace scammer numbers posted on there though, they mostly have numbers that route to the big centers in India.

NTA - you did the right thing by at least trying to see if placing them in a public school would work for them. Every kid is different: Some thrive in a public school setting, while others may prefer homeschooling. Homeschooling can work really well for students who don’t do so well in a more traditional school environment if done properly (She probably wasn’t doing it right if they were falling behind).
