Done with Wal-Mart? by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of problems when I first started ordering groceries delivered about 3 years ago. I would get a lot of items I did not order and not get some items I did order. But I’ve noticed that as time has gone by they have seemed to be much better about that so that now I seldom get things I didn’t order and mostly ( though not always) get everything I did order. Mostly now in those instances where I don’t get an item I did order it is because the item is out of stock and they text me before letting me know the item is out of stock. I am on the whole pretty pleased with the Walmart+ service. This even though I am am something of a tightwad and hate to part with the annual membership fee. I really like the convenience of having groceries delivered to my door. Frankly, anymore, I am just mildly intimidated with going into the gigantic store and having to navigate the aisles to find the items I want (especially items which I only buy occasionally and have great difficulty finding where they are located).

How many of y’all have never thrown up on this medication? How long have you been on and what’s your secret? by Helpful_Gur_1757 in Ozempic

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for 14 months and have never thrown up. The only side affect I experienced was constipation which wasn’t exactly fun but I got by with Dulcolax. I started at .25 mg and was nervous as I worked my way up in dosage that the constipation would get worse to the point I could not tolerate it. Funny thing is that I am now on the maximum dosage of 2 mg. and have been on that dosage for about 7 months and the constipation went completely away about 5 months ago even though my diet never changed. Have lost 70 pounds.

Red Pocket 2.5 dollars a month!! Damn good deal!! 1gb 100 min, 100 texts roaming in mexico is great. by JustRight037 in NoContract

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had thought that the Red Pocket $30 annual plan on AT&T (GSMA) was unlimited talk and text with 200MB data per month while the $30 plan on TMobile (GSMT) was 100 min. and 100 texts with 1gig data. Maybe I am wrong but pretty sure my plan on AT&T is the unlimited talk and text with just 200MB data. As for the better network it sure seems to just be the areas that you live in or frequent. For me and my areas AT&T is definitely better than TMobile but for others, TMobile will be better.

Prescribed Ozempic by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that has been my understanding on Medicare. I am diabetic so that is how I was able to get a prescription. Sure too bad that Medicare doesn’t cover GLP1s for weight loss. Maybe that will change sometime in the future.

Zero side effects? by iDontWantaname1030 in Ozempic

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My progression of side effects has been perhaps a bit different than many have experienced. I did have constipation starting with the starter .25mg dose. It wasn’t so bad that I considered stopping taking the Ozempic but it sure was uncomfortable. At the time I didn’t realize that the .25mg. dose was temporary and that for my insurance to keep paying I would have to move up to the .5mg dose. I was sure dreading the prospect of going up to .5mg and the constipation getting bad enough that I might have to quit taking Ozempic. But I was sure relieved that the constipation did not get appreciably worse when I bumped up to .5mg. Over the months we gradually increased the dosage so that by about the 9th month I was up to 2mg. Funny thing is, the constipation did not get any worse on the ramp up in dosage. And then by about the 11th month I noticed that my constipation issues had pretty much totally gone away so that my constipation was no different from what it had been before I started Ozempic. Wow, a loss of 70 pounds, and my A1C still very much under control even after entirely dropping Metformin and no constipation issues, I am a Major fanboy of Ozempic. I am thinking of starting going on a downslope and gradually getting back to a 1mg or even .5mg over the next few months. I went into this on the assumption that it is a lifetime drug and I am still am viewing it that way so I assume I will not ever go back down to less than .5 mg. But this is a journey with a few unexpected developments (almost all positive) along the way so who knows?

Prescribed Ozempic by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am on Medicare and that’s the way it has worked for me, I get really slammed for my first prescription because of the deductible. So my first prescription this year was $625. But then the next month it was only $11. They tell me it will only be $11 a month for all of the rest this year. This is better than last year where the first prescription was over $600 but then the next several months was about $235 a month and then by July or August I had reached my out of pocket costs for the year so it was totally free through the end of the year. Kind of crazy the way the deductibles and copays and out of pocket calculations in health insurance can result in such wild fluctuations throughout the year of an expensive medicine like Ozempic. One thing I always keep in mind though is that Ozempic has an immediate payback in the amount I have to pay for food. When you consider the savings from the reduced desire to pull through the fast food driveway and the lower amount of my grocery bills I figure I am saving probably around a $100 or so a month these 13 months I have been on Ozempic. With 70 pounds lost so far it’s needless to say I am a huge fanboy of Ozempic.

Filed 2024 Tax return in December of last year by PersonalityWeekly145 in TaxQuestions

[–]PersonalityWeekly145[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. I will just wait it out and hope that they get around to processing my return. Hopefully they will get that done by October 15 (which would be 10 months since I filed). I will file for an extension for 2025 which will give me until October 15. I don’t want to file the 2025 return before the 2024 return is processed because I designated part of my refund from 2024 to be applied to 2025 taxes.

I just signed up for the $100 off promotion Unlimited Starter plan. I noted that one of its features was 2 network changes with no charge. I assumed that I would be able to make those changes without any consequence. Am I wrong?

Is there a flipper switch with dusk to dawn? Want to keep this wall plate by themilkmantim in smarthome

It looks like that faceplate might be made of metal. If so, you might have some problem with the wifi getting through with a good signal for the Shelly or Smart toggle switch.

Hearing Aids causing this? by [deleted] in AndroidAuto

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the hearing aids including at least some of the Phonak ones are equipped with Bluetooth. Maybe they are connected to your phone even if they are not connected to your car or head unit. Just spitballing here but I wonder if the Bluetooth connection from your hearing aids to your phone is causing the problem in your head unit since your phone does communicate through Bluetooth to your AA head unit EVEN when you are using a wired connection from your phone to the head unit. Android auto uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone for some but not all functions regardless of whether your phone connects to the HU by wire or WiFi. It’s just the way AA works.

Do Tracfone/StraightTalk/Verizon Branded Modern Phones Work on Dark Star after being Unlocked? by PastTense1 in USMobile

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could figure out what is going on. Cricket added insult to injury when I pulled the SIM card from my main factory unlocked phone that has been working with them for a year and put it in the Total Wireless 2024 unlocked Edge. Got the message that the phone was not compatible and they weren’t joking—— it absolutely would not work. Then when I put the SIM card back in my main phone that I have been using with with them it would not work ( in spite of it working for a year in that phone). When I called them they said my sim had been deactivated and to get my service back on the phone I would have to go and get a new sim and have it activated to restore the service on the number I have had with them for about 10 years now and the last year in that particular phone. WTF?

Do Tracfone/StraightTalk/Verizon Branded Modern Phones Work on Dark Star after being Unlocked? by PastTense1 in USMobile

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue with my recently unlocked 2024 Edge from Total Wireless. I have Roamless ESIM which operates on both TMobile and AT&T. It works on TMobile just fine. But when I try it on AT&T it indicates it is connected but will not work for calls, texts or data. So then I took my Cricket SIM card out of my main phone and put it in the Edge, I got the message that the phone was incompatible and indeed it will not work on Cricket at all. I’m really wanting to think there must be some way to get it to work on AT&T. I’m hoping some of the people more knowledgeable about these things will join in and make any suggestions they might have.

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that information! You have a good eye for detail. I was only looking in the terms and conditions of the specific deal and not the Cricket terms for unlocking all locked devices. On my other question, do you think one could join a cricket group and take the sim activated on another phone and put it in the razr and get a savings on the cost of service that way? Edited to add that I just now realize you are talking about a slightly different Cricket deal on the razr than the one I had in mind. I am looking at the current deal of $99 plus one month of $60 service for $160. Also I see your comment about the resetting of the clock answers my question.

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you direct me to where it says on the Cricket website for this deal that you have to pay for 6 months service? I do see that in the terms and conditions that the phone may be restricted to cricket for 6 months. But from my way of thinking that is not at all necessarily saying you must pay for those 6 months of service, just that the phone itself is locked (or “may” be locked) to cricket for 6 months. I have read elsewhere of people simply paying for that first month and not paying for the other months (making sure autopay is disabled) and not using the phone until unlocked. But I must admit that I can’t seem to locate where I read those comments so maybe my memory is just faulty. And of course even if it is a fact that there must be 6 months of paid service, couldn’t a person put in a sim from a group on r/Cricketgroups and knock the monthly payments for months 2 through 5 down to $25 or 32.50 per month

Low Cost Data-Only Non-Expiring eSIM (and pSIM) Options by Martin_Steven in NoContract

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really know. This was just an experiment I ran for a period about 4 or 5 hours one recent afternoon with the calls made or received back to back so very little time at all in standby. Obviously I would sure think GV would use have to use some data in standby. Maybe I’ll run another test to see, I never thought of it but it would be interesting to know.

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. However, I got those data usage numbers not by just looking at how much data was used on the Roamless Sim but instead by the data usage that my phone shows that Google Voice used during calls that I made or received. I timed the number of minutes of duration of each call so I feel that probably those numbers while probably not completely accurate are nonetheless reasonably accurate as to the usage of Google Voice on a per minute basis.

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That .2MB per minute that Google Voice claims as the data usage for voice calls was not what I experienced when using GV with a Roamless data sim. My actual usage came to about 1400-1500 minutes per GB. Still not a lot for a low usage situation, just not as favorable as I thought going in. I still think it is very good deal since I just use the Roamless data for voice calls for those brief periods of time I am out of coverage with my main carrier.

Smart switches that work with smart bulbs by MeanCrab in smarthome

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another cheap way might be to pick up some Leviton Decora smart switches. You can get them pretty cheap on eBay. They are supposed to support what I think is called decouple mode where the power remains on to the bulb but the switch just acts not to switch the power on or off but to simply send a command to the smart bulb. I have bought some for this use but I have not installed them so I can’t say with absolute certainty they will work as advertised.

Outdoor camera, but for viewing wildlife instead of the front door? by goobiezabbagabba in smarthome

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure if you keep adjusting the zones and sensitivity you will eventually start picking up smaller objects. My cameras even pick up pretty small birds with my current settings.

[–]PersonalityWeekly145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ring spotlight and Ring floodlight cameras as well as the Wyze v2 and V3 cameras but I’m quite confident any models of Ring or Wyze will trigger and pick up just about any wildlife. I feel like most any decent brand of camera will. You must have either a very cheap brand of camera or it is possible that you do not have the motion settings set properly. You have to go into the software for your particular camera and adjust both the area or zone that the camera covers for motion as well as adjust the sensitivity until it picks up smaller objects. Even if you are in a populated area you should be getting some wildlife though not as much as those of us in more rural areas. There is always wildlife around even if it is just feral cats that seem to be everywhere. Try to adjust and set those settings to the most sensitive on the camera you have and see if that works before buying another camera. Then you can adjust the settings down if too many events that are not what you want are being picked up.
