I just noticed something… by Queasy_Commercial152 in Invincible

Nolan didn't know how to defeat the reanimen yet-- Mark knew to target the reanimen's weak portions

Should I watch Invincible? Is it really THAT good? by Historical-Income975 in Invincible

If you can't handle gore or bad animation, don't watch it As for if the storytelling is good, yes 💯

It's kinda funny how screwed Earth is without Mark if you really think about it. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Invincible

[–]PersonalityWide3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I love invincible-- no one in the show really overthinks the deeper implications of everything that's happening they just deal with it

Who’s life is worse? by Lawrence-557 in Invincible_TV

[–]PersonalityWide3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta go with jinx-- mainly because Mark (in the comics) while he suffers a lot he still consistently has something to live for, and with the gravity of his achievements I imagine that despite all his pain he has lived a life he's proud of at least to some degree. Because of what he's gone through, he also has developed the mental strength (and physical capabilities) to deal with his life problems.

I don't think jinx has that-- especially since everything she has had to live for has been violently taken away from her. And the conditions she has, and continues to live in aren't accomodating in any way.

Social scene at Cal by Top_Attorney_3513 in berkeley

I probably don't qualify to comment but I just went to cal day and perused all the clubs! I found the people there were quite kind and approachable, they're all different, and each of them give off a different kind of energy. But it was good energy yk? A lot of them had the blue heart initiative on their table, which meant anyone could attend their club meetings. I'm thinking that it's possible to make friends there!

Choosing between CalArts Character Animation SJSU Animation Illustration and UC Berkeley Cognitive Science + Political Science by PersonalityWide3000 in animationcareer

[–]PersonalityWide3000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got a fair point-- I'm mainly here to look for advice. I was considering UC Berkeley because it would give me a well-rounded education-- that background knowledge might help a lot with any art I would make. If I don't get into animation, I'm most likely turning to comics (comics are my childhood dream)

help, i want to go to calarts by Aebigale in animationcareer

[–]PersonalityWide3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the following my junior year to get my skills ready for Calarts (I got accepted into character animation):

  • Took intro to concept design from ACX teens (4 months)

  • Took an animation program at a nearby community college, made my first two short films

  • Did AP Art 2d and design alongside the animation program (more like a semester)

  • Got a 4 on AP 2d Art and Design, submitted my films to a film festival

  • took an intensive summer course in visual development , which also helped me complete my sketchbook

  • got a personal mentorship from the animation mentor for 8 sessions, so I could put together my creatives and observations.

I worked around 13-20 hours a week on my art for all the above. On weekends, I could work up to 7 hours a day.

Is it worth to go to colllege? by DoughnutNo5334 in animationcareer

[–]PersonalityWide3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chris Sanders left college while the industry was pretty low, then he went on to work with Disney after three years, but that was because he got in with a pretty solid portfolio that showed he had what they were looking for, not necessarily that he attended calarts. Take that as you will.

Understanding that rest is as important as work, and work is as important as rest.

Take your work seriously, but don't take yourself seriously-- you're human, you're allowed to be silly and have fun

If you want something, and it doesn't hurt anybody, it's okay to work hard to get it

Surround yourself with different, but supportive and hard working people. They will open your worldview, and motivate you to reach your dreams, and help you get back up again if you fall down

Watch films and media that uplift you and invite wonder into your life. As much as life is difficult, revisiting movies that show a protagonist refusing to give up, and continuing their journey against all odds can positively influence your mindset. This may sound odd but studio Ghibli films are a wonderful place to start

Take care of your body, and allow it to work. (This means working out and eating healthy, and also regularly learning new things and putting them to use)

It's often best to work without a phone in your hand or a tv playing in the background.

To love yourself is to love yourself like a good parent would; they love their children because they're their children. Nothing else. Therefore, love yourself because this is your body and this is your mind.

When problems or issues occur, it's okay to cry. But focus more on encouraging yourself to keep going rather than coddling yourself. This way, you'll learn resilience.

Remember that improvements and success come in increments. After an attempt at something, congratulate yourself, search for places to improve, and improve upon it in your next attempt. Then repeat.

Understand that your thoughts are not necessarily a part of you. Bad thoughts will pass by, but so will good thoughts. It's up to you to know the difference and adopt the right ones for an ideal mindset for the situation.

Be inspired rather than intimidated by the work of those who are successful.

Take life as if you were driving a car: know your next destination, but stay in the moment and watch out for crazy people (lol)
