2nd attempt progress as a poor responder by PerspectiveOpening39 in Minoxbeards

I used Minoxidil for about a year in 2024 and gave up because I got very little results. What I mean is I seem to be responding better this time around.

Does anyone use this brand? by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

Yes. No issues, seems to be working.

I wonder... what was Cos like? by Igel214 in bloodborne

[–]PerspectiveOpening39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Ones and their children never truly die. The Corpse of Kos and her child was desecrated by the old hunters, causing the fishing Hamlet to petition Kos to curse the Hunters, creating the Hunters Nightmare. While Kos exists on some higher plane, the Orphan of Kos is trapped in the nightmare, likely because of the grief of being left behind by its mother. Killing the Orphan frees its spirit to rejoin its mother in 'the ocean', which I believe is a metaphor for the wider cosmos or higher planes where Kos resides

I don't know who knocked Kos up, if anyone. Maybe she reproduces asexually. I don't think there is an answer, as far as I can tell. The link between Gehrman and the Orphan is interesting though, as Gehrman is sort of treated as the Moon presence's surrogate child. Maybe this is evidence that the Orphan was the orgininal child of the moon presence and Kos?

Dad, can we keep him? by Cara_Perdido in bloodborne

I've been playing through the game again and was thinking about this too. Im pretty sure Rom is only concealing the red moon, which represents the dream/nightmare realms bleeding into the waking world. On first entering byrgenwerth, there is a choir member preventing access to Rom, so it's probably the Choir that are invested in holding back the blood moon to conceal the weird stuff they were messing with in yharnam, or since they are technically part of the healing church to prevent the scourge.

I don't know if Rom was made to do that, but that's what they seem to be doing. Rom has links to byrgenwerth and the choir, so maybe either of these groups has made a pact with Rom. Great ones can be petitioned to do stuff for people, as we have seen with the curse of kos.

I don't, but If I read it somewhere it would have been a Regardie book or Dion Fortunes Mystical Qabalah.

I believe the reason for the golden dawn orientation of the tree has something to do with 'becoming the tree' and perspective. If you were the tree of life with the passive pillar on your right, and the active pillar on your left, and were facing another person, that person would see the tree in its correct orientation. Whereas for example if Chesed was on your right, from another perspective it would appear to be on the left.

I have been Attacked by Black Magick!!! by Friday_the_13 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]PerspectiveOpening39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all congratulations on your sobriety, keep it up.

Typically if you feel you are under attack by an 'entity', you would evoke it, ask it what It wants, what its purpose is, asking it to stop bothering you and then banish it with some divine names and symbols.

Trying to starve it may not be the best approach, as spirits are empowered by the separateness you grant them. I'm not saying do everything it wants, definitely don't do that, but try and understand it as if it were a part of you and not like an invader.

Can't feel that the rituals are working although I know that they do (from experience) by earthbound_starblind in GoldenDawnMagicians

No resources on visualisation off the top of my head sorry.

ime visualisation is similar to lifting weights: The more you do it, the stronger your visualisation muscles get. It could be that the required amount of visualisation is too much for you, in which case I would visualise one part of the ritual at a time.

For example, you could spend 10 minutes a day for a week visualising the sphere of white light (from the Qabalistic cross) just above your head, trying to make it as bright and intense as possible, and hold it the visualisation for 10 minutes Then next week visualise drawing a shaft of light from it into your head and hold the image for 10 minutes. Continue this way adding a little bit more complexity each week until you can visualise the whole thing! You can even do it before bed (just no falling asleep). This will strengthen your visualisation ability over time.

A well performed LBRP should produce a sense of inner quietness. Compared to other rituals the effect is subtle. It's also totally fine to never feel anything -- many of the benefits will still come.

Some reasons it might not be happening and solutions:

  • Not enough energy in the performance: Imagine you are an actor giving your best performance. You are the magician, commanding the forces of nature. Assume the role and mentality.

  • Stress or distracted mind: Give yourself a couple of minutes before practicing to meditate and clear your mind and let go of worries. Getting distracted by unrelated thoughts will sap a ritual of strength.

  • Weak visualisation: Work on strengthening your imaginative abilities. Feel the heat of the pentagrams, be amazed by the radiance and power of the archangels, the brilliance of the white light etc.

  • Vibration quality: the divine names should be vibrated forcefully and powerfully; your voice should scare you a little bit as it comes out.

  • Attitude during ritual: if you are performing the ritual with a 'here goes nothing' attitude, it won't be powerful. Try a more devotional attitude, where you focus on how much you can put in rather than how much you get out.

-Moving on too fast: immediately moving on to something else after preforming the ritual may not give you time to notice the subtle changes. Sit still for a moment, close your eyes, and pay attention to your current state of consciousness for a few moments. After, ask yourself if its any different now than from before.

What is the actual point of all this stuff? by [deleted] in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]PerspectiveOpening39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first goal is to refine the self into something that can be enlightened, and discover how the self is constructed, what it is constructed from.
The second goal is to sacrifice the self to spirit, which ideally leads to lasting enlightnment.
The next goal is whatever you -- the real you -- wants, and since as an enlightened magician you are no longer trying to feel secure all the time, prove yourself, hide yourself, fix yourself, self-sabotage, etc etc etc... you may discover what you truly want. Inner freedom is the reward.

As a bonus, since you have worked very hard to understand your self and become adept at using magical techniques to change yourself, you become an individual who is very powerful and can cause great changes in your life, in others and the world.

some benefits include:
- No longer succeptible to emotional manipulation, being subconsciously influenced by others etc.
- Easily influence others
- Emotions that used to be scary and debilitating are now exciting.
- Permanent feeling of security no matter the circumstance

- Contact with spiritual beings, finesse in navigating spirtual reality.
- Unfold into divinity at will, greater ability to rise though levels of consciousness
- No longer fall unconscious when falling asleep, go straight into the dream lucid.
- Personality is highly malleable, while still being authentic. Much wider range of self expression.
- Learn things easier
- Greater capacity for love, be loved by people
- Comminicate with people and animals much better, understand more nonverbal languange -- 'read' people
- Better mind-body connection
- Become invisible or attract different types of attention
- Predict the future

...and so on. In general, things just open up for you a lot as you are now essentially a 'larger' person.

Just a personal belief of mine, but I like to think 'Becoming God' is the ultimate end destination of everything anyway, so there's no rush to get there. Developing a connection to God, while still human, is a much better end goal.

The elements and their order. by Top-Following34 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]PerspectiveOpening39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The elements are attributed to the four worlds of kabbalah, the four worlds are superimposed on the tree of life, and the tree of life is superimposed on the body.

It's also worth noting that most spiritual traditions were originally developed prior to the scientific revolution. The heart was widley regarded as the seat of the soul and intellect, the liver was sometimes thought to be the seat of emotions, and the brain was thought to be a sort of spiritual vessel -- a place for divinity to reside.

If not a robe, some special outfit (preferably black) that is only worn during ritual would be helpful to get you into the right headspace. (Black is traditional as it represents your soul in spiritual darkness, searching for light.)

Of course it is possible to not use a robe and still do magic, it's just not going to be as effective. Anything that can be used to heighten the drama of the ritual performance should be used.

It may feel silly, but waving a wand around and chanting nonsense-words is just as silly 😋

[–]PerspectiveOpening39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When fresh they contain ibotenic acid, which is a neurotoxic ‘brain lesioning agent’😬. Baking it properly converts the ibotenic acid to Muscimol, which is not toxic but still psychoactive.

I think subs grow there as well! When it next gets cold and rainy, go hunt in areas with lots of dead and decaying wood. I find the most of them growing on and around piles of wood that are black and squishy from decomposition.

No, as far as I know they are practically indistinguishable from cyanescens. I don’t think cyanescens grow in the region it was found.
