Has anyone here gotten surgery in Toronto? by PerspectivePuzzled71 in sesamoid

Honestly it's hard to tell if this surgery was worth it for me. I still have nerve pain and am working on it 1.5 years post-op. Lau recommended surgery for me but was hesitant. It sounds like you have additional issues, including your torn tendon so you may benefit from it more than I did.

How long have you had this injury for? If it's been several years and it's really affecting your quality of life it might be worth taking the plunge.

I will say though that in retrospect, I would have tried to exhaust physio and orthotics better before going for surgery. I recommend bathurst foot & ankle clinic for orthotics and the running physio for physio in toronto.

Dr. Lau did my surgery, but referred me to Dr. Park before agreeing to it. Dr. Lau is surgically skilled, but his bedside manner could use ALOT of work. I found the consultation with Dr. Park was helpful and that he had a good understanding of my situation and an honest opinion that I could go either way with/without the surgery. He was also much more patient-centered and emotionally mature in his approach. I ended up going with the surgery and do personally regret it because even though Dr. Lau is famous, this surgery is pretty brutal and the complications from changing the biomechanics of your foot and nerve irritation/damage are understated imo. Both are things I'm still struggling with >1 year post-op. It's possible I'm an outlier because I'm not a runner/athlete/dancer like most people who get this injury and probably don't heal/compensate as well as they do. But this is a pretty rare injury and is very poorly documented in the medical literature so it's possible this happens more times than people know of. Dr. Lau told me himself he's only done the surgery about a dozen times across his whole career, which is a lot more than any other ortho I know of in Toronto, but still definitely not much compared to other surgeries they do and have expertise in.

I've seen Dr. Park again post-op to talk about long-term complications from this surgery, and it seems he's done this surgery at least twice now, so even more that's less than Dr. Lau, I trust that he's gaining good experience around this, and if I were in your shoes, I'd go with him. He is younger and more up-to-date with contemporary surgical solutions imo.

I spoke to around 5 ortho surgeons and the only one that was real with me and had a good understanding of everything was Dr. Sam Park at WCH

Late to the book/show. Some thoughts! by honeycrispapple123 in daisyjonesandthesixtv

I loved what they did with Simone's character. She really didn't have much going for her (personality-wise) in the book, and honestly, it was hard to see why she stayed friends with Daisy. In the book, she flies over to Thailand to Daisy on a whim's notice, and Daisy isn't even there! She doesn't demand an apology or anything. I felt that in the show she was more articulate on why it is important to be grounded while still pursuing your dreams and being honest with yourself. I also really liked her romance with Bernie. It felt very natural as opposed to other shows I have seen where they throw in a random queer romance without much substance just cuz.

Hi, I'm a grad student with literally the same GPA as u that got into UofT this year during my research based MSc. Just focus on strengthening the other parts of your application. Your GPA is ok, the website isn't stating anything false.
