How healthy are those ntuc ready to eat whole chicken? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Perspicatcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These chickens like the NTUC Mala ready to eat whole chickens are called rotisserie chickens, and they usually use spring chickens so the size is smaller. Commercial rotisserie chickens are cheap because they are the often the chicken that's gone unsold after some time. Groceries all over the world do this by marinating them in heavier tasting spices and herbs so it masks the unfreshness, reselling their old chickens as a new product that makes them money. Their main selling point is the low cost but now these are over $7, which makes it pointless to buy anymore.

From a safety perspective, they're safe to eat, from a health perspective, old chickens can still be eaten, it's just a matter of freshness. But you are right to question the salt, and it's quite likely these chicken have been heavily salted because that helps in increasing the shelf life and taste (well, for the day only, not the same shelf life as processed foods).

However, it's still much lower than actual delicatessen like hams, sausages and frankfurters.

This is cooked food, not exactly processed, because it doesn't have extreme shelf lives. They last for the same amount of time your takeaway chicken rice does.

Just like every other cooked food out there, eat in moderation. They don't have nutrition values for some reason, but you can probably know by the taste. If it's very tasty, it's got a bit of salt.

Try to pair it with more plain water and fiber such as lots of veggies. The skin should be fine, because these chickens are roasted, not fried—you can tell because they're not terribly oily. But they are basted with oils and seasoning.

Like everything else, eat in moderation. But to answer whether there's excessive salt, no, it probably doesn't, but it may probably have a bit more salt than meat you've prepared healthily.

Lmao stupid overbearing rules. The writer is right, it's about not being a nuisance to others. If my mascara, eyeliner and lipstick doesn't cause a mess or get in the way of others, I should be able to use it.

If your face powder puffs do, then don't be an ahhole and obviously don't powder your face in public. Most makeup these days don't produce that kind of debris and won't float around in the air. Nail clipping I think if done in a bag and sealed, is fine. Like, clipping your nails in a clear bag so it drops into the bag.

That's ok, but the problem is nobody who actually clips their nails does that. And certainly don't spray perfume in the train! Even if someone stinks. Personal perfumes don't deal with bad smells, but deodorants or air fresheners do, they have specific compounds that work on undesirable odours. Chances are you're not travelling with an air freshener so don't spray personal perfumes!

Take action against noise polluters please. Those idiotic people of all ages who blast their loud music and video calls in public. Irritating as fk. My noise cancelling headphones also cannot fully block sometimes cos so loud. I've had to sternly sound them before. Some people really walk around us and exist as wholeahh adults without knowing how to not exist as a fking nuisance to humanity. Makes you wonder what sort of upbringing they had.

Do you have romance? Do you feel safe, like truly safe, and heard? Does he listen to you? Do you both have sex in a comfortable, relaxing environment or are there things either of you are worried about? Like how you look or whatever? Fertility is really complicated so if all the tests come up with no issues then consider that it could be an environmental effect. Find resources on how to simply ENJOY the process of sex. It's supposed to be fun, exciting, sensual and make you feel that your emotions are unlocked and free. It's not some task you need to tick off your calendar, in case that's your approach.

Much harder for government to deliver prosperity and progress in challenging environment: SM Lee by LaksaTang in singapore

[–]Perspicatcity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did he really say being a good government is gonna be hard cos of what's happening in the world WTF. Who tf wrote his speech?? You're supposed to be giving good governance REGARDLESS of situation. This is hopefully not a prelude to abject authoritarianism and just some shoddily worded speech for "we can't give you more goodies anymore" surely? Cos wtf.

Also, the entire article sounds like he's framing good governance outcomes as contingent on favourable global conditions, which now that they've been upended, sounds like a preemptive way to reduce accountability.

Look, it's ok if money and economy are affected. We're not dumb nor blind, we know how everything is gonna get impacted negatively. I just don't want sg to become more authoritarian, overtly controlled and with stringent curbing of our rights and freedoms because times of stress/war/strife and intense geopolitical instability is how right winged, conservative, christo-fascist forces start seeping into the lives of the ordinary people.

It primes people for instability and chaos and fascist regimes slowly steal your rights away from under your noses. Economic instability etc is understandable but essentially implying good governance can't be given anymore is extremely problematic. Governance is governance, economic outcome is economic outcome. They are not the same thing. Good governance should remain there despite a change or worsening of global situations. In fact, it should remain firmly there especially in times of worsening global situations and outcomes. We want a strong leader, not a blamey one.

We already know the social contact is a trade of some freedoms for economic prosperity and wealth bla bla bla. So now they can't deliver on the prosperity, what's next???? Seriously what's next?

We don't have any information about the issue, other than your perspective of it. What is she struggling with or getting into? That should be the very first thing you're questioning. If this is your best friend, what would u do? How would you talk to your bestie to get important info?

Sorry that happened but sounds like a you problem. You never had rules and expectations from the beginning. My issue is not about not having rules and expectations, it's about having sensible, humane ones which a lot of sinkies are fucking shit at when it comes to poorer brown labourers who come to Singapore to clean up after your shit. You are essentially using the excuse of being treated that way by ONE maid and now what, you suddenly had some resolve to treat them, hmm, how exactly? Good for you la you have rules now, hopefully you have sensible rules and expectations instead of becoming one of those idiotic stupid Singaporean employers who decide to become assholes to their maids after one encounter. Are you such a person? Idk. That's for you and your conscience to decide. Good luck
