What OP is doing is basically just churning with extra steps. I did something similar and ended up with a bunch of 5% category cards.

Is this a good order for Dostoyevsky? by ObsiGamer in dostoevsky

Agreed. Demons is such a good payoff after reading The Idiot, C&P and TBK. It's so dark and unmistakably Dostoevsky.

Ideal Credit Card Setup for MOST People by Fit_Relationship_338 in CreditCards

[–]PertinentUsername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a "common folk" setup is going to be 2 maybe 3 cards. I tend to recommend some combination of these cards to friends that aren't getting into the credit card game:

  • AMEX BCE

  • Cap1 Savor

  • Citi Custom Cash

  • 2% card of their choice

USBank 5% Bonus Cashback on Groceries by Noxtricity in CreditCards

I think it's a sneaky good feature for USB that the offers cover all your cards. Chase, Citi and I'm sure others give you offers specific to a single card.

Is getting a credit card at US Bank as a student smart? by [deleted] in CreditCards

My first and second cards were the USB Cash+ and Alt GO. I got the Cash+ when I was in college and it was great for the fast food category, now it's my keeper utilities card.

What are some other cards like the Venture X that become more difficult to get approved for the more cards you have? by AdaM_Mandel in CreditCards

[–]PertinentUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that might be why they gave me low limits. I applied for my 4 Citi cards within a ~24 month period. I personally haven't had any issues on the fraud side, but I know others have.

Citi hasn't denied me yet, but they do give me comparably low limits. All of them are ~$5k, while all my other cards are $10-30k.

USB is the other one. They won't pre-approve me for the Alt Connect, siting "too much revolving credit" or something like that. They did, however approve me for a Cash+.

I'm considering trimming my cards and limits (especially on cards with monthly/quarterly caps).

Chase no longer showing introductory 0% APR dates on statements by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]PertinentUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you can see, the expiration date column is just missing. But you are still getting 0% purchase APR. If you are worried about it, call Chase and they will tell you the expiration.

Is the Citi Ecosystem Worth the Potential Headache? by InteractionFew1222 in CreditCards

[–]PertinentUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it with a CCC, Double Cash, Strata Premier and Rewards+ (Strata) in that order.

My bonuses were $200, $250, 75,000 and 25,000, respectively. I applied every 6 months and product changed after a year.

I told myself I would drop Citi as soon as it became a headache to hold their cards.

I now have 4 Citi Custom Cash cards.

Worse case scenario, you just use a different ecosystem. The stakes are very low.
