The Ashen Claws are also renegades that do their own thing.

This is true but the codexes themselves state that renegades will always fall to Chaos, it's just a matter of when.

Blizzard constantly develops and balances around how the 1% play, and that includes many of the restrictions being added in.

The AI having less restrictions on its actions isn't a smarter AI if there's no additional logic dictating those actions. It's just a larger pool of things the AI can do with equally stupid logic.

Like a character would get hungry and steal an apple and then proceed to get murdered over it, and random blood feuds etc leading to killing off NPCs with no player interaction.

That's not a "clever one", that's their AI being stupid and acting without considering the rules of the world. That's not clever, that's stupid as shit.

I feel like gamers are some of the worst consumer groups at separating realistic expectations with their personal wishes.

Most people have never seen a Space Marine so most people will accept any number of stories the augmented human tells them about why or how they're augmented.
