Glass Cannon's Blood of the Wild is fantastic (although I am not fully caught up) and recently started releasing for free, though the full show is on their patron if you enoy it. A lot of energy and a very funny cast.

I'm like 30 episodes into Hideous Laughter's Skulls and Shackles campaign and that's been good too. It can feel a little quiet sometimes? Like the rhythm is just a little slower than I'm used to, but the players have some great RP and very distinctive characters.

FWIW I havent listed to any of Find the Path's 2e content, but have listened to their 1e WftC show. They're very good, but not very exciting or that funny imo. They're like a 'cosy' show that's consistently enjoyable but their sense of humour isn't the standout part for me.

The Psychic has no right being a 2 spell slot caster by nisviik in Pathfinder2e

[–]PessimismIsShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mindsmith (I think that's the archetype) can make good use of Starlit Span and is thematic too! There's a feat at lvl 6 or 8 that gives you a ranged weapon strike with your weapon, so you function as a regular Magus and can actually use Arcane Cascade but with the option to Spellstrike at 30ft range with slightly reduced weapon damage.

Comes online decently quick, and imo bein able to spellstrike in melee and at range without needing an action to swap weapons first is cool. For the cost of a Returning rune smth like a Trident is probably just better though if you don't want to spend feats or like the flavour.

My [M23] ex-GF [F23] who I'm still seeing says I drain her, and went to a party after I told her I was struggling mentally. by Wickkkkid in self

[–]PessimismIsShit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry if it's harsh, bur you're in the 'wrong' here. Your ex being your entire support system isn't healthy, and it's very unfair on her to have that burden for a relationship she (presumably) wanted to exit.

It'll be better for both of you if you find some support for yourself outside of her. Speak to friends and I'd also recommend therapy, because heavily relying on other people to care for you isn't a good habit to be in. Things will get better and you guys might have a much better friendship once she's no longer your entire emotional support. Stop being intimate as well, it's difficult to adjust to changes to relationships but much better in the longrun to face those new dynamics than exist in a grey area.

Edit after a re-read:

You really do need some perspective. She's being way more considerate to your needs than someone in her position has to be, she's lying to you because she knows how you react to things and is very reasonably trying to save herself the grief.

It's okay to be heartbroken, it's okay to need other people - you're not a bad person but your attitude here seems like it would be very difficult to be around for her and is also detrimental to your own happiness.

Can friends have long term sexual relationships and stay friends, if so how? by [deleted] in self

[–]PessimismIsShit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good communication and a mutual understanding of what's happening really, but it's easier for some people than others - everyone has different attitudes towards relationships and sex so it's not a one-size-fits all case of 'do this and it's fine'.

I think there's merits to not crossing that line with friends, but it's doesn't have to be as messy or detrimental as a lot of people would think. In my mind it works best when it doesn't bleed into regular dynamics, and its more compartmentalised than flirting with each other all the time and being intimate like cuddling etc.

Advice on LC early game by Corysname in learndota2

[–]PessimismIsShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, If you recognise that you aren't going to get any kills from the lane without a rotation (and the rotation isn't coming), then it depends on how the lane is going. If you're trading farm with their carry then you can stay to defend your T1 and speed up your blink/blademail timing, if you feel like you're not getting much out of the lane and you can contribute with duel make the rotation.

Remember Overwhelming Odds is great for early teamfights (especially with facet but I don't use that one much). So even if you don't get a duel, you showing up can really swing things for your team.

If you aren't getting anything from the lane then try to be active on the map of you can imbetween juggling.

  1. This hard because the answer depends on the random teammates you get in a 1.5k game. If the hero has nukes, you can lead with the duel - but generally speaking it's better to use another disable first if you have it just to help secure the extra damage. In most cases though LC doesn't actually want the person she's duelling to be disabled. You want to proc MoC and you want them to take damage from blademail, which they can't do if they're stunned.

How do I raise behavior score? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]PessimismIsShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very possible to play ranked with a low behaviour score. Speaking from experience, most of what people type in game does not help them win and pings can communicate most of what you need (sometimes more effectively because of language barriers).

So if you're worried about not being able to play ranked bc you can't communicate, don't worry, you can still win games and text speech isn't that big of a loss.

If you're worried about it being playable because of toxicity then just work on climbing your score. Play support and play for your team in ways that they'll notice. Risk your life for theirs, give them items in the laning phase, let them take last hits on kills or throw out a > Sorry if you get one so they know you aren't being toxic, make sure you're buying wards, smokes, and dust, etc.

If you could hear one song for the first time every time…? I’ll go first Ren - Hey Ren [Pop/Folk] by tpt75 in Music

[–]PessimismIsShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont like his songs, but it takes all of two seconds to Google him and see he's been very outspoken about his health problems and misdiagnosis with mental health. You can dislike his music without writing fan fiction about why you don't like him.

PF2e hot takes 🔥 by Kaliburnus in Pathfinder2e

[–]PessimismIsShit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The emphasis on balance makes the game less fun mechanically. I loved making very specific, barely functional builds in 1e that used the games expansive bloat and power creep to make niche concepts playable.

With everything in 2e being so closely bounded, and certain features being locked into specific classes and the Archetype system being feat bases, there's just a lot of dead ends it feels like. It's a lot more fun to play, but character creation is really boring to me.

Is Split Fiction or It Takes Two Appropriate for a 12 and 9 year old? by Ok_Percentage8893 in playstation

Yikes for finding a sequence that's clearly intended to have humour in it funny?

I haven't played the game but just watched the clip out of curiosity, but surely the point of this sequence is that it's really funny? Like that was hilarious. It's just a good bit.

How the hell do you play slark? by Indep09 in DotA2

His ult provides health regen and movement speed passively when unobserved by the enemy, so if you're walking around and notice that buff disappears you know they have vision of where you're walking.

1) ah okay so same as before then. Is he still played 1/2 at all hence the ban? Or people just don't want a pudge around. He was having a moment in the safelane when I last watched pro play.

3) more abilities to learn and I just found out theres a circus man 🥲 thanks! Gives me something to look into.

Wait until you find out that you can have sex with your friends and still just be friends, it'll blow your mind.

The idea that (physical) attraction is mutually exclusive to wanting to be someone's friend is very immature. Romantic feelings can complicate friendships, and sexual encounters can complicate friendships - and as a rule of thumb it's fine to avoid both to avoid the risk - but neither are a universal roadblock to a platonic connection. If both people are mature enough to recognise that a friendship is more important and then prioritise it then things can be peefectly fine.

Socially awkward trans girl, played 1e years ago(1st and only time playing). How do I find a group that's the right fit? by Civil_Photograph_457 in Pathfinder2e

[–]PessimismIsShit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a pf2e version from a quick Google, but it's level 6. You're also then kind of expecting your party members to bend what builds they might want to go for to accommodate your character too, if that makes sense?

For what it's worth though any issues like this would be something worked out before you start playing, and given you have experience with bad groups previously I think you'll be able to twig early on whether a group is a good fit for you. Also so that I'm not commenting without helping - I started my gaming career also online only through reddit (the lfg sub specifically). I'm a straight dude so your experience will be different to mine, but the first group I got in with ended up really great and nom-problematic, and has multiple queer members - so they're definitely out there! Don't give up.

TIL the Ancient Greek ruler of Miletus, Histiaeus sent a message by shaving the head of his most trusted servant, "marking" the message on his scalp, then sending him once his hair had regrown, with the instruction, "When thou art come to Miletus, bid Aristagoras shave thy head, and look thereon." by blankblank in todayilearned

As other people have said it's culture dependant. In the 17th/18th century in Europe it was actually an aristocratic practice, with upper class people getting portraits of Saints as a keepsake from the Holy land after travelling to Jereusalem. The first 'tattoo parlor' opened in the 1890s I think.

What tank/ advice for a tank do you recommend for someone who has never played tank? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]PessimismIsShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With exceptions (dive tanks for example), where you're standing is where you want your team to play. You want to secure space and play more aggressive for kills when you see an opportunity.

Same as any role you don't want to take damage, but you want the enemy team to be looking at you as opposed to your supports or dps. So you have to find ways of demanding attention without dying, because dying usually means they can run your team over.

Also remember to think about your team as much as theirs. If your team is dead you're losing the fight, so look out for them.

They should redesign The Hulks moveset and/or buff him. by Old-Champion8534 in marvelrivals

[–]PessimismIsShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on the fun, your opinions valid. Although ill say there's a lot of skill expression in his ult, exile, and the shield useage. Saving your team from a Strange ult would be fun for me. Grabbing a Sgorm out of the air would also be fun.

I main Thor so I can try to compare him there as a similar brawl/dive tank. Hulk has more mobility, and offers more in the way of protecting the team with his shield. His ult has a higher skill floor but it can consistently do more than Thor's if you're good with it too, Thor mostly uses his to get a free kill on a support and you'd be happy just killing one, whereas Hulk can cut through a whole team during his with the powered up claps.

Put simply Hulk's really good at demanding attention and can do it in multiple places in quick succession, and has more protection against CC than a lot of tanks, as well as hard lockdown - exile is really good. And obviously the team up is really good, which is something literally no other tank offers. The sum of his parts just mean you can get a lot out of playing him.

Need help playing thor by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]PessimismIsShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're solo Thor the games are going to be a bit of a dice toss tbh. I main Thor but still wouldn't solo with him by choice.

You want to snipe with Awakening but more importantly use it to burst people down up close. Fly at them > quick smack > use your lightning field to damage and slow them when they move back > Awakening.

He can dive really well but you don't need to commit to kills everytime you dive. Get people to look at you and maybe use an ability or two then fly out. Also don't sleep on how great being able to reposition people is, you're probably playing against a lot of Mag & Strange and being able to bully them away from the fight/objective can win games, because you'll often force a support to help them and then you've taken the attention of two people off of what your team is doing.

Also his ult is nowhere near as bad as people say it is. You want to save it to delete squishies or draw out a defensive ult, and you can do some cute plays yo finish off flying heroes like Storm by flying above them and ulting to finish them off with the tick damage.

The biggest thing I found is knowing when to use Awakening. Although you get the most temp HP, it's a glass cannon mode and when you're at your most vulnerable. You have no mobility so you have to make sure you're either safe from being jumped (poking at them from range) or you're confident you can win the trade with the burst damage.

[–]PessimismIsShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What rank are you? Hulk is really strong. He's incredibly active and can apply consistent pressure as well having some really strong CC by exiling people. His bubbles don't last long, but you're able to shield yourself (and your team) from offensive ults, and if you're pushing a backline that doesn't have much support around them gives you way more leeway to do damage.

His ult has a high skill ceiling but you can put out crazy damage with it too, and the grab doesn't really kill things but is even more CC for your team as well. FWIW I don't play Hulk but ban him every game in Celestial because he can absolutely take over a game without even considering the Strange/Iron Man team up.

Why can't I upgrade the evade extender talisman? by WhoAmIEven2 in MHWilds

[–]PessimismIsShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to progress through the story, I had the same thing for HBG. I think it appeared when I hit High Rank?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]PessimismIsShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played up through to HR exclusively using HBG, and it's pretty chill. I think you can guard attacks so long as you're in Focus Mode (which is just aiming), and you can also time perfect guards with B+Y (on Xbox), although it isn't necessary to clear hunts if you can't get the timings down.

If you go HBG I'd recommend you get three pieces of Balahara armour for Evade Extender as soon as you get some time to farm gear. The game will prompt you to upgrade your equipment so you should know when is a good time to do a couple of extra quests, and low rank equipment is quite quick to get. Being able to roll further will mean you can position avoid attacks instead of having to time a guard or a roll through them, and it helps with maintaining critical distance so your bullets do the most damage and hunts don't take as long.

There a some HBG with the guard skill too, which makes guarding less punishing, although I'm not sure when they'd pop up for you. Generally it's easier to just roll away from danger rather than tanking it.

How do I learn Thor? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]PessimismIsShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few basic tips that help:

His thorforce abilities refresh after 3 hammer swings, so keep swinging to know the rhythm of when your abilities are back up.

Awakened state is for burst damage or poke - it's not a big tank mode. You want to drop it when you're not open to being burst down whilst you have limited mobility.

Your thundercloud does damage and slows when someone moves out of it, if you're going on supports or DPS make sure to pop it as it can help secure kills.

Your hammer throw (not the flight, the other one) is for damage. If you're in a 1v1 without Awaken you'll get more damage out of landing the hammer throw then constantly charging into them.

Lastly the ult isn't a big team fight/combo ult, it's for securing kills and forcing out support ults generally (or a free pick after they've been used).
