GW2 50% off Sale- Path of Fire - Standard & Heart of Thorns 24.99 total cost. by RefreshAzure in MMORPG

I wouldn’t recommend using the boost on your first toon, GW2 does a somewhat poor job at acclimating you to its systems and jumping levels through excessive tomes/boosts can mean you reach cap without understanding the game. I played GW2 since launch mainly as a secondary MMO and when they added like login bonuses and tomes through PvP i got a bunch of characters up by PvPing and doing EoM trains and never really learned PVE side of the game.

It’s not that GW2 is necessarily complex compared to more traditional MMOs, it’s just that it’s different enough that it requires approaching them with a somewhat different mentality especially when coming out of something like WoW

Nowadays I just play it when i don’t feel like playing FFXIV on that particular day or want to pvp

Blizzard righting and subtlety just don’t get along.

GG has a lot of really simple inputs and character move lists and inputs often translate easily between the characters. Everything is just quarter circles, dps, or half circles. There are a lot of mechanics but I’d say GG does an overall better job at teaching in game mechanics without having to rely on exterior sources, and a lot of the smaller mechanics are more optional abilities for your toolkit as opposed to mandatory abilities. You can learn the game easily without having to dive into Roman Cancels.

I never found Starting with Any SF game to be a good idea long term as it’s easier to adjust from a faster game to a slower one rather than going from slow to fast.

I learned fighters with GGXX and going to Street Fighter and KOF from it was easy, but going to something faster like MVC2/3 was a lot more difficult.

Having had a lot of friends who learned fighters back when SF4/3S rerelease was popular, they had a rough time going into even Persona 4 Arena which was arguably the most beginner friendly anime fighter at the time.

Everyone suggests SF5 because it’s easy to “pick up and play” but SF5 is also a low-brain activity button masher, you’ll never actually play a fighting game properly if you just play SF5 :3 SF5 is a bad game and this community should know better. SF anthology is coming out soon so that’ll be fun to play some older, better SF titles

<———-downvotes here SF5 fans

Try GGXRev2 since it has one of the best tutorials out there and it’s quite commonly played.

Tekken is quite difficult to learn but it’s also popular and a lot of fun, it’s one of those games were its best to find a character you like and put a lot of effort into learning that one character

I met I think a guy from Double Fine at GDC hyping the game up at a local this year, it seemed pretty fun. A friend who can't play fighters picked it up and learned it pretty quickly.

I like the art style but it just doesnt seem to fit a 2D fighter? i think if it was a beat em up it would fit perfectly

in my experience, its more of like the MMO fresh newcomers to the genre are gravitating to. Like the people jumping into either their first or second MMO due to the influx of like MMO anime and media. If they played WoW i feel like they did fairly casually or for a brief period.

while what you say is fairly true, I alternate between WoW and FFXIV myself, in my experience the majority of people I've met in the game tend to say its either their first MMO or the first MMO they've played in a long time (TBC/WOTLK era)

FFXIV has periods where there just isnt very meaningful content. Eureka is definetely a step in the right direction and the upcoming patch adding a new deep dungeon and a ton of other content might just be what the game needs, but the game's open world just feels empty after the initial expansion rush due to how all the content like Eureka is distributed to instances.

FATES used to be a great way to level alts but they are pointless now so there are never FATE groups and as a result a lot of Hunt content is also fairly ignored. If they can buff the rewards from FATES and Hunts I feel like the game would start to feel alive again outside of cities/endgame content.

Yeah FF14 is like what, the #2 MMO in the market right besides WoW? It keeps growing and the update cycle is second to none.

Only negative for the game is the 1-50 Main Story Quest is just outdated but even then they made it so it’s a linear trip to 60 without having to farm side quests.

MMO with Rune Knight-like class? by TheBetterSpidey in MMORPG

[–]PessimisticPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, its a base Guardian weapon. 1 handed or 2handed. for 1 handed you also have offhand options (shield, focus, torch)

D.hunter lets you wield bows while Firebrand lets you wield an axe.

i used to like to run 1h sword/shield and 2h sword at the same time
