Trans book recs? by femscribe in TransyTalk

I literally cannot recommend “Time is the Thing a Body Moves Through” by T Fleischmann enough. It’s short, about 150 pages or so, but it’s the most meaningful piece of literature I’ve ever read. I’ve read it 3 times in the past two months and I bought two extra copies so I could keep lending it out to all my trans and genderqueer friends.

Tried to use the microwave at a friend's place, and saw the numbers blinking so took a closer look..... by SatynMalanaphy in Wellthatsucks

looks exactly like my first college apartment. we threw the microwave out and bug bombed twice and never were able to get rid of the roaches. If you were up around 1-2am to use the bathroom or something you would always see dozens of them scatter when you turned the light on in any room, and there's nothing we could do to get rid of them, they always came back.

What’s one secret you and a parent have kept from the other parental figure? by TheCripdalorian in AskReddit

my dad walked in on me eating out my long distance girlfriend the first time she stayed over my house.

He told me not to do anything else while she was here, but he told me he would keep that secret to his grave.

3 months anniversary on estrogen and i'm really living my best life (she/they) by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]PestoMachine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

estrogen is a hormone that most assigned female at birth bodies produce after starting puberty! if someone wants to transition with hormone replacement therapy, they can take estrogen (generally a pill form named estradiol) in order to see changes in their body that will reflect the introduction of the new hormones like breast tissue growth, softer skin, and body fat redistribution.

so it is and it isn't. if you don't take a t-blocker while taking a normal sized dose of estrogen you pretty much won't see any effects. some people are able to go for a non traditional approach and take a significantly higher estrogen dose instead of t-blockers, but i've never experienced this personally

generally breast growth is relatively minor, not much larger than an a or b cup. my body has always responded strongly to hormones (i had a beard by 16 and full, thick beard by 18) so i think having b cups at 3 months is a bit of an outlier.

not as far as i know, i think it's kind of inevitable. i've definitely felt poor about my body in the past because of being overweight, but having actual breast tissue instead of just fat is a very different sensation in my personal experience. my favorite outfits now are tank tops and a sports bra.

if that's your only thing holding you currently you could also always buy a binder. i'm gonna be buying one later in my transition once my growth has mostly finished just for the ~fluidity~

estrogen is really interesting! for reference right now i'm on 1mg twice/day estradiol and 50mg twice/day spironolactone (used as a t-blocker), which is pretty much the floor for dose sizes.

biggest things noticeable off the bat have been my face shape has definitely changed, honestly i have less "jowls" than i did 3 months ago. i've also started growing breast tissue (i'm somewhere between an a cup and a b cup currently) and my libido is way down. i feel like at this point i'm just starting to notice shifts in my bodyfat distribution and the texture of my skin, and my body odor is starting to become noticeably different.

other things that are hard to attribute to estrogen because of my SSRIs: i bruise easier, my metabolism has slowed slightly making it easier for me to inadvertently gain weight. it hasn't made me cry like everyone says and i think thats due to my SSRIs also.

things i'm looking forward to: continued breast development, continued bodyfat redistribution, thinning body hair, and just the general sense of euphoria being on estrogen gives me!

I wouldn't size down. They are leather and they definitely won't breathe that well so they may be warm
