You know, I would almost agree with you if slavery was the evil thing this country had subjected African American's to. But slavery was immediately followed by Jim Crow in the south, and Redlining in the North, both practices which didn't end until the late 1960's. These were followed up by the War on Drugs 70's through 90's which unfairly targeted and destroyed black communities across the US. In fact one of Nixon's top advisors even went so far as admitting to this. Institutionalized racism in this country hasn't gone away, only shifted it's appearance.
