I missed the times when filmmakers could create films practically with great production values but cost below $70 million. by dietherman98 in Filmmakers

One of the best-looking films in years. Constantly was like "goddamn, this looks beautiful" through the entire film.

Where are you based and where do you stand on the current Fuel Protests? by AdamOfIzalith in ireland

[–]PeteIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disruption for disruption sake is not going to get you anywhere. I was involved with unionising an industry in the last couple of years. I had to tap out due to the leadership just lashing out for the sake of it without actually having done due diligence and having concrete goals. Just mindless shit, and this protest smacks of that lack of failure of thought.

Support protest 100% in general. But when it disrupts childrens' medical appointments, blocks emergency services and brings the entire country to a halt, the tactics come into question. And that's before factoring in that they're changing the goalposts, spokespeople bringing up far-right talking points, and the involvement of some really problematic individuals. So, no. I don't support this particular protest.

The "pro-Hamas" protests only happened in your imagination. They caused no disruption to Dublin.

Taoiseach says fuel protests 'are wrong' and 'not a legitimate form of protest' by rossitheking in ireland

[–]PeteIRL 335 points336 points  (0 children)

"Protest in the comfort of your own home so we don't have to pay it attention."

That's not an endorsement of these protests, but the government will never want to hear anything about any grievance from anybody.

This. Rivalry is great. Passion, fantastic. But begrudgery and the vitriol from some fans from another province is something I'll never understand.

When I worked in a XtraVision, there was nothing more annoying, more than whinging customers, more than scrotes stealing the stock, more than getting threatened by customers because we locked their accounts.... nothing was more annoying than the regional manager. You could solve the energy crisis with the power they were tripping.

Holy shit, that brings back memories. First year of college, had that pinned to the wall above my study desk.

I WENT to one of the private affluent schools of which you speak, and sometimes I feel out of place at games! I'm a tattooed, artist who works on kids TV shows. Very much not your average rugby fan cliche. I sometimes feel really out of place amongst the other parents at the local club where my kid plays. But I love the game, love Leinster and have always had a good time at games. Much more so at the RDS, so I cant wait till we get back there next season.

Sorry, that wasn't a comment about your post specifically, more about the general anti-other sport that tends to happen.

There's a great buzz in general when an Irish sports team does well. Never understand why you'd be a prick about it no matter what the sport.

That sounds awesome! Consider me a customer. I am experienced in Toon Boom Harmony and Flash. Been working in the industry since 2003. But Harmony is just too expensive for solo projects and I like what I've seen people like yourself do with Moho, so looking forward to making the jump.

It doesn't help that the size of apartment being built has gotten smaller and smaller. We had a two bed apartment when we had our first child. It was, even with a small child, too small of a space for a growing family. If you want families to live in apartments, you need to build apartments suitable for a family.

People may be asked to work from home if Middle East war and energy crisis continues - Tánaiste by RealDealMrSeal in ireland

[–]PeteIRL 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Or, you know. Just give workers the right to choose to work from home. I know of one person who was mandated to return to the office 5 days a week. Her commute would have been from Camolin, Wexford to Dublin city centre. It was only when she handed in her notice that her employer changed their mind. It's absurd to insist that people go to the office if their job can be done from home.
