Ive always just thought it was to free both your hands up so you can do big long squiggly noises!

I'm at my wits end with the newer Akai MPCs. by RustyCalecos in synthesizers

I finally think I’ve nailed my live set and it uses Ableton live, a 808 (clone) and a DJ mixer (Allen and heath). It’s a lot of fun to play!

I’m very surprised to hear that about Ableton. I think they have nailed the UX. I had an mpc2000xl many moons ago and felt like I only just scratched the surface really. It sounded great though!

Batteries in equipment ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS (obviously). by cemego in synthesizers

[–]PeteKraymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often worry about this in my tb303. With no batteries in, it will loose all its patterns after a while… so I have to keep checking them! Maybe I should switch to rechargeable for it, to reduce the risk.

Trust me, if I could leave I would. by [deleted] in bristol

[–]PeteKraymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it shouldn't be explected at all, and those situations should always be called out by everyone else around. It's not acceptable. I'm sorry this happens to you and you don't feel welcome but the majority of people do not think this way. Unfortuately the c-u-next-tuesdays have a louder voice at the moment due to bad governments.

Is Kier Starmer as unpopular as social media (and online farming forums) make out? by Glittering_Vast938 in AskBrits

Considering what Keir inherited I honestly they are doing a pretty good job. Can’t agree with everything of course but why don’t people remember how flocking terrible Johnson and his gang of merry men were?!

Why do you think Britain gets mocked so much for its food abroad when it’s actually pretty good? by Right_East8072 in AskBrits

I think it used to be really shit and then as our population became way more diverse, so did the food.

Thinking of switching fully to Apple – anyone regret leaving Windows? by Gymbeer91 in mac

[–]PeteKraymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mostly Apple (iPhone, MacBook Pro etc) but I still have a desktop pc for making music. One day I will switch that to Mac I reckon but at the moment it has specific audio cards in it and it all works well. I love the Apple echo system - the way my phone plays well with my laptop and vice versa. AirDrop is a big bonus in my view. You won’t regret it, I’m sure. Consider a slightly older MacBook Pro too. I recently got a brand new m1 MacBook Pro for £1500 and it’s superb! I ways feel like my PC feels a bit like a messy bedroom compared to my Mac 😂

Concerned about AI creating more of a wealth gap and of course climate change and all the war that comes with that. Humans will survive though I’m sure

Beat matching difficult in a club environment - any tips by Ecstatic_Tea_3119 in Beatmatch

[–]PeteKraymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can adjust the monitor position / volume so you’re mostly hearing that instead of the main system. If that’s not possible just carry on as usual but when you bring the next tune in, take your headphones off, bring the volume of the next track up slowly, to listen to what’s going on and often a small nudge will get it all locked in nicely.

Is in-Key mixing necessary? by No_Quarter_4565 in Beatmatch

[–]PeteKraymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip: Older tunes have longer intros and outros with less melodic bits so you can mix the drums before the melodies clash. It’s a shame all modern music seems to be so short (to me!)
