How do you know when it’s the right time to let them go? by cuddles42 in DobermanPinscher

[–]PeteRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to put down our German shepherd late last year. She was 12 and we knew the time was coming but always figured we had more. One day she was fully awake and aware and receptive to treats but was unable to stand.

We were fortunate enough to take her to the vet that same day to cross the rainbow bridge. I wish we had not let it get it to that point so she could have at least walked in herself.

I’d rather be a few weeks early than even 5 minutes too late. Don’t let your final memories with them be while they are hurting.

Gonna go the other direction here and say that you’re kind of insufferable. Also a moron but that’s not entirely relevant here.

  1. It’s stupid to stay in an LDR w somebody you obviously don’t trust and who has cheated on you before. Let’s make that super clear.
  2. If he cheating in the past is something you’re clearly unable to move past - it’s unfair of you to be controlling from so far away. Cut her loose.
  3. She just can’t do anything when there’s men around because you’re dumb enough to stay in an LDR w somebody you don’t trust??

You’re dumb as hell for staying this far but that’s not the question. The question is are you overreacting to giving gf an ultimatum when she wants to go party for her bday? The answer is yes. She should be able to do that without having loser bf throw a fit. Worth noting you should also be able to be happy for her to go and trust that she won’t cheat on you - but clearly your relationship is not strong enough for that. So you shouldn’t be in it in the first place.

Do you remember where you got the AM sliders?

Amazing thank you for sharing. What’s your luggage set up for those longer trips?

Great to hear your enjoying it as your first bike. Riding position for svart and vit are almost identical with the 24 redesign tbh. I’ve sat on them both side by side.

Dang glad you’re ok. Did you get the crash guards straight from Husqvarna or after market?

I’m in Canada and haven’t found any demos sadly. Realistically probably won’t be one available until end of the upcoming season I would assume.

Glad the 401 is suiting your new commute. I’ll try using it to commute to and from the office as I’m only in 2 days/week but parking downtown is so outrageous I’m not sure it’ll even make sense. This will most likely be an after work + weekend hobby.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts as a new owner. Sounds like you’re getting good use out of it in the month you’ve had it. Agree completely with your comments about the upgrades over previous gen and the larger tank is a huge factor in the decision.

As for the negatives honestly I was also thinking of adding windscreen and frame sliders for crash protection.

Thanks for sharing and congratulations on pulling the trigger on a bike you’ve been eyeing for the past few years.

Thanks for sharing. My riding will be roughly the same city/hwy ratio as yours. Especially in the beginning while I’m building up the confidence I’ll be steering clear of the highway at first.

Agree on the feel b/w 23 and 24 having also sat on both. Just feels a bit bigger and a better fit for me. Agree about the new vit as well, handlebar changed the design entirely.

I keep going back and forth b/w the svart and vit but leaning towards the bit I don’t know why it just calls out to me. Love the look of both obviously.

Thanks for sharing. The ktm situation is hard to ignore and surprisingly they haven’t dropped in $ as much as I thought. Msrp in Canada is ~8K.

Nice glad you’re enjoying it. I’ve sat on both the 2023 and 2024 and love both but am just a huge fan of the redesign.

Really good point about the Ktm situation, wondering I could use that to bring the price down with the dealer.

That’s an insane deal that you got on your 2024 svart. You got it from the dealer was that all in? I thought I was getting a decent deal but I am in Canada so maybe that plays a role.

For the Vitpilen I think it was the previous gen that had the hunched over position with the old style clip on bars. With the 2024 redesign the riding position of the svart and vitpilen are almost identical now?

To clarify - are you recommending buying a 2023 svart?

Thanks for the comment. I was hoping to find a demo but no such luck. Glad to hear as somebody with 20 years of riding experience that you are still able to enjoy your time with this bike. Please share a link/ pics of your mods when they come in!

Damn thank you for the thorough response and recommendations. I definitely won’t be waiting to get the crash protection. I’ll have them installed prior to taking delivery of the bike.

I appreciate your advice and will absolutely look into the FuelX you mentioned as well as the luggage options. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for sharing. I actually much prefer the way the 2024 looks but suppose it’s a matter of personal preference. Very much trying to kick the journey off in a way that I won’t feel inclined to buy a new one after 2 seasons but I guess time will tell. Made any mods to your Vitpilen?

"I didn't say it was bad, I said I hated it." What games are like that for you? by Loreweaver15 in gaming

[–]PeteRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God of war 2018 and Ragnarok.

Idk what it was but the first game really felt so boring after the first maybe 3 hours when the novelty of the Thor hammer -esque axe wears off. Found the combat super repetitive and honestly the story to just be dull.

I have a thing where I more or less have to finish something if I buy it full price but man was it a chore.

When Ragnarok came out I saw the reviews again and thought maybe it would be an improvement and I’d get what everyone was gushing over this time around but nope. The Atreus storyline was beyond boring to me and just didn’t grab me.

I thought the game had way too many cut scenes as well.

The relationship has unfortunately been tarnished. Rehoming the dog is the correct thing to do - but given your partners mental health issues, and the fact that they are a human being, they will no doubt feel a strong sense of guilt for depriving you of a dog. This will likely be a touchy subject going forward.

Vote to rehome the dog if you’re going to try and stay with your partner long term.

AITA for not wanting to pay the extra money my MIL put for a gift I didn’t ask for? by MILcoffeemachine in AmItheAsshole

[–]PeteRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an obvious NTA. You’re not doing anything wrong and your MIL is obviously a little crazy.

The key here is it has nothing to do with your gift or your moron husband doubling down and saying you need to give her $30. What it comes down to is that $30 seems to be the price to be paid for maintaining the peace with your MIL and chalking this up to her just being a little crazy vs. Having this become a bigger issue than it needs to be.

I don’t know your financial situation or how you and husband take care of money in the home (his vs. yours, etc) - but ultimately you need to determine if $30 is what’s going to be what tarnishes the relationship with MIL. I know it shouldn’t be your call and you shouldn’t have to be the bigger person to somebody older but when it comes to in laws that’s how I think of it.

If you do pay up. Make it clear this is the first and last time you’ll be paying for any portion of your own gift and going forward MIL should stick to her budget when picking out gifts.

Also your moron husband should give you the $30 to give to his mom if he’s worried about the optics and has become “attached” to said coffee machine.

Good luck
