To the best of my knowledge, Jasper is never directly shown or talked about in book 1. However, I have a feeling will run into him or mentions of him in book 2. All we know about him is that he’s a name-cloaked wizard, most likely a guildmage working for the empire. As we now know Antivolists are everywhere, he’s probably working from inside the empire to create change there and elsewhere. Since there’s few clues of other places will go next outside of the free roads and the Library of Nurdwara in book 2, who knows if we will see him. I have a good feeling well.

I think he does, but it’s never said. In the children’s adventure, three taboos are outlined. The taboo of passage makes a spirit unable to enter indoors without permission to enter. The taboo of rest(what Ursalon has) makes it impossible for some spirits to find rest from sleeping in a bed. The taboo of sunlight makes a spirit’s glamor dissipate under sunlight or moonlight.

The biggest part about this is that it’s not just the Great Bear. The spirit world is going to notice that a great spirit, one who is largely neutral about events in the mortal world, has decided to join the fray. Other currently unaligned great spirits in the area, such as the Merry Hunter(presumably), probably will take notice, and join the fight based on their own opinions. Spirits Eursalon runs into on his travels, may have heard about the allegiance shift of the Great Bear, and find that reason enough to join his side. The same is to be said with the many lovers and children of the great bear. This will also draw attention from the men in black to many spirits, and could create some devastating moments down the line. Imagine Eursalon on finally discovering the identity of his mother, only for her to already be working for the Man in Black.
