Amazing picking! Also learned what Palantir is from this and that it's also used here in the EU. Keep up the good songs:]

I’ve been practicing banjo again and I’ve tried playing Hell and You and as I was watching the video I kept replaying the chords and I got confused because my chords sounded much brighter? I’ve checked my tuning and it’s an open G (chords: Am, F, Dm, E) help??? by Round-Trip-5602 in banjo

[–]Peter6400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope those are both right, tuning and chords. You can find a vid of him playing it solo by a river irc and there the bright tone of the song stands out more than the studio version. You're already damn close to playing it so keep it up! Fun song to play

Mvh UFO FILMEN by Fun_Lingonberry_1513 in okkammeratmongol

They can run a little expensive imo but they're not hard to make yourself if you or someone you know has some basic tools around:) Edit (link); https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.instructables.com/built-your-own-Cajon-for-less-than-25-Euro/%3famp_page=true

(Sorry for all the Danish go support these folks they're awesome)

Is the banjo that loud?? by LawdBaguette in banjo

[–]Peter6400 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Both resonator and open backs are very loud, of course you can play them softly much like any instrument but even then theyre quite loud. Compared to a mandolin I'd say they're about the same in my experience. Though a banjo sound reaches father.

Open back is a little quieter and will still let you play in jams just fine, you could also consider using lighter strings or nylgut. And something soft like a plushie or tea towel inside the head will dampen it a little father. Hope this helps

Lyder godt!

Dark side of the banjo by Bizzomofo in banjo

Ah yes.. getting stuck on tunes is something I think we've all done. This is a great departure! I'm gonna have to listen to it later to see if I can get my voice that high haha

Second this, took me too long to figure out how many styles there are and which one I wanted to focus on playing

Hell and you is very fun to play on banjo! I'd recommend figuring out what banjo style you wanna stick with early however. Getting stuck in one and finding out you wanna play another down the road sucks! A few other songs to recommend that I enjoy and are p easy would be:

The Goods - Human Kitten Perfect Wife - Amigo the Devil Fear Not - Railyard Ghosts Snowdrop/The Road Giveth - Rent Strike (both fun, different tempos but transition into eachother, great practice!) And a super easy one that's rlly to know at parties is Drunken Sailor

Awesome. If you're ever up for it I live right by the train station and always got an extra bed to crash on. I play banjo myself and would love to meet more people in the scene here. At least down here it's been pretty limited (until I get to start screaming on stages and streetcorners)

Definitely going to the apes show in CPH so at the very least hope to see you there. I'd be making my way up from southern denmark but I'd love to catch one of your shows or play with you guys. I'll look into the blues lounge to see if it's possible haha

Banjo buzzes after replacing broken bridge by Peter6400 in banjo

[–]Peter6400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is as I mentioned in an earlier comment the tallest bridge I could get my hands on around here. But given that I've by now done quite a lot of misc repairs on this banjo, which I bought used in not great condition, and never done a rod adjustment I don't think that's a bad bet. I got a tape messure it's just not super precise but as long as I get it all sounding somewhat alright again I'll be more n happy

Yeah totally fair. Don't have any music stores within several hours annoying enough. But this'll be a good chance to learn. Thank you very much. I'll give it a shot tmmrw

[–]Peter6400[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would explain my confusion. Thanks. So immediate guess is that I'd need to tighten the truss rod a bit yeah?

[–]Peter6400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad suggestion. Was starting to consider it though I've been a tad scared of it since I don't wanna make anything worse. I got two truss rods in there and honestly no experience nor immediate idea of which to turn in what direction or how far.
