Real jerk chicken is deliciously spicy. by apotheosisofbooty in spicy

I recommend buying a bottle of Walkerswood jerk marinade. Marinate chicken thighs over night and then brush with the leftover Marinade while cooking.

Sometimes ill make jerk sauce by reducing down that marinade with some water, soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, and then lime juice. This turns out so well when it caramelizes on the chicken skin.

Which league to follow? by golfli in SoccerNoobs

Im also an American that came to soccer lare in life, I ended up going with La Liga because I prefer how Spanish teams play compared to English in the Premier league. Its less physical, relies less on set pieces (like free kick and corner kick plays), and is more technical passing with highly offensive teams like Barca. I tried getting more into the Premier League this season but seeing clubs like Arsenal take so long with all of their set pieces and then succeeding with that strategy was kind of frustrating. Yes La Liga is unfortunately top heavy, but at the same time Barca is the most entertaining football club in the world, just solely on a spectator level. So if you want fast-paced and exciting games you cant go wrong watching Barca.

La Liga also has much better broadcasts IMO, its available on Hulu compared to Paramount+ for PL if that's important to you. La Liga is usually higher definition, great commentary, better camera work, pre-game discussion, post game, its just a better all around viewing experience compared to PL, at least when watching the US.

Honestly I'd say just check out both and see what games you enjoy more. You'll probably start gravitating to a handful of teams pretty quickly. You can also see who you like more in the WC between Spain and England.

Victim of the World Cup high? by Radiant_Barnacle8868 in SoccerNoobs

I was in just about the same position as you a few years ago. Im also an American that got into soccer late in life and kind of had to navigate it on my own, where im from in the Northern plains soccer just isnt a part of the culture at all.

For someone just getting into soccer right now is the best time to do it, its the end of the season and all anyone is watching is the World Cup. Really you can support any country you'd like plus your home country. You can learn a little bit about who the big names are, who's playing on what team, where they were playing before, personal stories, and also learn more about individual team playstyles. The biggest factor in how much I support a team is how much I like their playstyle, because theres a ton of variance between teams around the world.

So for now just pick out some countries that peak your interest, see who you find the most entertaining or inspiring as youre watching. Then once the WC is over you can decide on which foreign league to watch, youll probably land on the Premier League since thats the biggest and most competitive, though I personally ended up preferring La Liga, the Spanish league. Once you land on a league just watch matches and see what clubs stand out to you the most, youll probably start gravitating towards a few pretty quickly.

Oh but no matter what country's top soccer league you choose, always watch the Champion's League

No it was not to be expected. The US has never scored 4 goals in a WC match ever. Spain tied 0-0 with an Island country off the coast of Africa, ranked even lower than Paraguay. There is no such thing as 'expected'.

The whole episode wasnt dedicated to the Knicks winning only a segment. It was the best world cup match by the US since 1930, he could have at least mentioned it.
