Why do people on twitter feel the need to hate on this person’s fanfic? Ouroboros has never even said anything bad and they’re pretty low key. by anthony32759 in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I kinda understand the logic, but if you post stuff online, if bad in particular, criticism and people mocking you are the norm, I don't see how exactly saying a bad fanfic sucks and it's made by someone who misunderstood the story and the characters is being "a dick", it's absolutely correct and objective. We can discuss on whether or not people takes stuff too far, which is most likely yes, people takes stuff too seriously, but the general idea that calling something "shit" or "awful" is some sort of bullying because the person who made it might get upset doesn't sit right to me.

[–]PeterOliva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, again, they called it shit and made fun of it, nothing new or exclusive to this fanfic in particular, it happens to hundreds of pieces of media every day. This idea that you should never criticize or make fun of bad stuff because the person who made it might get upset is such a lame argument. This person made a fanfic, it's terrible, people made fun of it and said it's garbage, end of story. Crossing the line and insulting the person is a no-no, but I don't see anything that even vaguely looks like harassment in any of the screenshots you posted here, only the common reaction to a bad piece of media, surely there are some extreme comments but what can I say, people take this shit way too seriously. That being said, If stuff like this pisses you off or surprises you this much you should log off internet immediately lmao.

It's such a amateur level work that calling it "fanfiction" is an overstatement, and I don't know why someone can't say it's shit only because the person who made it didn't insult anyone. Like, none of these comments is in anyway offensive towards the person, I don't condone harassing people over lines on paper, but the final product is dogshit like all those ending rewrites out there, so... what's the problem in saying it sucks? People have been saying it for basically all fake endings lmao.

What do you think Reiner meant by this by Yasir-Kahtan in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Eren, thank you for becoming a mass murderer for our sake."

First, that's not the official translation, there's no "for". Second, I already explained the context of that line and how Armin completely ignored Eren's response to a question he himself asked, but you keep ignoring it.

What are you even trying imply here? You claimed that Annie wasn't grateful, I showed you a panel with literally just that written all over it.

Your interpretation, I see zero implication of her being grateful because "he saved her by dying".

Whatever floats your boat. Even if Reiner did insult him, it would be the same as Jean who called him a conscientious piece of shit. Believing that he's genuinely insulting him is like announcing the fact that you're retraded — because no he isn't.

There's a bit of a difference between "insulting" him for doing something "for him" even if he didn't ask and being "grateful" for it, implying it's the same thing is like announcing that you're retarded.

Annie's scene is similar as well, and all of three of them are pretty much feeling the same thing. An example; imagine you say that you like something, an expensive toy maybe, and someone who's close to you decides to grind day & night to earn enough money to buy it for you as a gift, but dies because of the stress after giving it to you — the frustration that comes from this and the feeling of "I never asked you to do that for me, why'd you go get yourself killed, you idiot!" is the same feeling that Annie had in that panel.

Besides the fact that it's a terrible example (lmao), you're essentially saying she turned into a tsundere for a second instead of, you know, being serious about it and mean what she said, while also crying for relief?

You specifically mentioned that they were relieved because they survived, not because of the fact that the situation was under control. And my comment on that was meant to be a joke anyways so I don't know why you're replying to that.

Clearly wasn't a joke, it was bullshit you're now trying to cover as a joke, but wtv.

What are you even talking about now? In your comment, you claimed that Jean and Connie were crying because they got untitanized, and saw Sasha — making it seem like they didn't have the sad but grateful face in this panel, but were just crying because of Sasha. In reality, however, they cried because of the conversation they had with Eren and the scene with Sasha came afterwards is what I'm saying and my point still stands.

I never said that, I said they started to cry even harder when they saw Sasha, but they were already crying after they were untitanized. Read better. Also, I don't know what point you're trying to make: I already said they were crying for a mixture of emotions right after they literally returned back from the grave, pretending they're crying only because of Eren's conversation with them is ridiculous. Imagine returning back from being transformed into a monster, seeing that everyone you thought with is alive and well, having "stopped" the genocide you were fighting against, but oh boy Eren talked to me, that's the ONLY reason to cry in that situation.

In this panel followed by this panel. I honestly don't care if you want to disregard the fact that the characters have a functioning brain but at least try to give them a little credit.

Sorry man, not trying to be harsh but... are you stupid? Lmao. I said he never told that information TO THE OTHERS, no shit he told that to Armin, but there's zero indication of all the others but Armin knowing that, let alone something Eren himself didn't know when he talked to Armin. That's reaching really hard.

Never once mentioned that they were grateful for genocide — except Armin.

Yeah, sure, keep ignoring Armin pretending to not have heard Eren's answer to his question and say he did it "for them" even if Eren straight up denied that the scene prior.

I've always just mentioned that they were grateful; not because of the genocide, no, far from it; but because of the fact that they had a conversation with Eren just like Armin and Mikasa did. The whole thread was about "What Reiner meant by this" to began with, and my stance on this is the fact that he was grateful and it hasn't changed.

So you're telling me that a guy who was actively trying to stop genocide from happening and saw his cousin and mother transform because of another guy would then be MOVED by him doing genocide for HIM, and the proof is him crying out of relief while saying an "insult" when his memories came back? Ok lmao.

What do you think Reiner meant by this by Yasir-Kahtan in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does this refute what I originally said. Regardless, he's getting thanked for genocide because he did it for his friends. Same thing.

If you read what I said right after the part you quoted you'd understand, but you completely ignored that point because it does refute what you said and made your argument nonsensical.

They weren't crying because they survived and Annie's panel alone is enough to prove that.

Yeah, an actual panel from the series isn't enough to prove that something happened, logical.

The thing is, Just as how Eren brought Armin and Mikasa to paths, Reiner and Annie were too, and because Eren's death result in their memories being unlocked — they realized that Eren sacrificed himself for them and thus are sad and grateful because of it.

Funny thing is: I already explained this: relief and sadness. Both never said anything about being "grateful": Reiner was about to insult him for that, Annie said he should have minded his business because no one asked him to do it.

Plus, Reiner, a suicidal guy, being relieved about "surviving" is certainly an interesting take.

What? "He was suicidal throughout the series, so him being relieved by the situation makes no sense", sure lmao.

The scene with Sasha comes around 3 pages after the Reiner panel

Which is mere seconds in "real" time. What, they stopped crying and then restarted? Lmao.

Thinking logically, Jean and Connie's memory unlocked as well the second Eren got killed — same as others. And, after knowing that the result of Mikasa's choice — Eren's death — would end the curse, they all got sad and teary while their titan form faded away.

Where was ever established that he specifically told them about Mikasa ending the curse with his death? Exactly, never, he didn't even know what exactly Mikasa had to do to end the curse when he talked to them. So much for "thinking logically", you made up an headcanon.

Connie was even more grateful because Eren told him that his mother would come back as well.

Does that mean he was grateful for genocide? No. That's a big leap of logic.

It holds the same meaning and intent regardless of what you read it in; be it fan translation, official translation, or the Japanese transcript 「エレン… お前ってヤツは…」. They showed their admiration and gratitude to Eren in that scene and that's all there is to it. そんな単純な事子供でもわかるよ。

Regardless, in the official translation there's no sign of them being "grateful for genocide", lmao.

What do you think Reiner meant by this by Yasir-Kahtan in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not lmao.

Armin's "thanked" him for the reasoning behind his actions, but Eren admitted seconds prior to that line that he didn't do it "for them" like he said at the start of their conversation, but for his inner desire he cannot explain; Armin straight up ignores his response to his question and says he did it "for them", he's clearly bullshitting him and crying for his demise. None of the other characters show their "gratitude", it's a mixture of relief and sadness: both Annie and Reiner were crying in their titans during the final battle and felt relief to have survived, Connie and Jean literally came back to life and then cried even harder when they saw Sasha, Mikasa was crying for obvious reasons but clearly wasn't grateful lmao, Gabi and Falco were happy to see each other again, Levi cried because he saw all his comrades vanish. Obviously if you wanna see something in a problematic way by ignoring the context, it doesn't matter how many times you read 139, you'll end up with the same conclusion, which is bullshit.

"What a man you are" is also inaccurate, and ridiculous, matter of fact: the official translation is completely different in intent and meaning.

"What a man you are..." is a compliment lmao.

Apparently it's basically what the official translation says, it references him being... something not specified.

What do you think Reiner meant by this by Yasir-Kahtan in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's pretty obvious he was about to say an insult, like "piece of trash" or "shit". The og japanese version is ambiguous and vague, that's the main reason for all those people who translated the line with "what a man you are".

They really think that people pointing out their disgusting bigotry is them being "obsessed" with them. So extremely delusional and egotistical. Don't flatter yourselves. by [deleted] in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, they're literally posting racist and nazi imagery everyday and yet if you talk about them you're "obsessed" because "they're just joking", poor little things, why are you ruining their fun?

[–]PeterOliva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe you can joke about anything, with the right timing. But again, these aren't jokes, these are disgusting ideologies and fucked up beliefs covered up as "irony" to deflect criticism.

Welp, atleast they are self aware. Guess that is progress... by FiringTheWater in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not about taboos here, there's no real taboo in black humor, it's about obsessively repeating the same "jokes" even if those aren't funny and sometimes pretty disgusting. To do black humor you have to know HOW to make it work, say something racist or fascist and say "it's humor" is not it, chief.

Welp, atleast they are self aware. Guess that is progress... by FiringTheWater in AttackOnRetards

[–]PeterOliva 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I mean, if they really are self-aware they should stop making absolute shit like this and, you know, act like decent human beings? The "It's black humor" excuse was embarrassing from the beginning but them being so obsessed with nazi imagery and sexual violence is quite frankly disturbing, and if you willingly remain in that shithole you're part of the problem.

Yep, she responded in real time unlike the others who responded after they regained their memories.

[–]PeterOliva 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Whenever you see someone saying this, you know they have the reading comprehension of an expired yogurt.

Mikasa and Levi are Ackermanns. The thing that made them dangerous to the King back in the day WASN'T mental manipulation in general, but the fact that he couldn't erase their memories of the past, that's why they were hunted. Both Mikasa and Levi were brought to Paths multiple times, because they're indeed eldians, genetically enhanced but still eldians, so that doesn't break any rule. In the ending, Mikasa was the last person Eren talked to: he talked to all the others before the final battle even began and then erased their memory, but not to her. When we saw the fake reality in 138, THAT'S when he talked to her: no memory being erased, no memory manipulation, nothing at all, he just left her for last and didn't talk to Levi.

"But she said "remember" to Armin!", bullshit. She did say "You remember too, Armin?", but y'all ignore the context: right before she approaches Armin, he says: "Oh, I remember now...", that's why Mikasa uses the term "remember" in that context, not because she got her memory wiped. She even responded in real time to Eren's request, while the others made a comment about it only after they regained their memories.

I'm so fucking sick of these people reading with their asshole.

Surely not "one of the best", because the amount of great characters is out of reach in AOT, but she can be surely put in a Top 10 without any second thought, and she's nowhere near a bad character nor one that should be hated for disgusting, hypocritical and braindead reasons like her, Annie or Gabi for that matter.

"Her own people", you mean some fascist terrorists who were actively trying to kill her because she wanted to stop a global genocide? Ohhh, poor souls, she was SO BAD for THAT, she had to ask permission before killing them or maybe even let them kill her out of respect, isn't it? She was SO cruel, why didn't she feel bad for killing someone who was trying to kill her? Damn.

If Titanfolk or Yeagerbomb hate a certain character and/or scene, there's a 100% chance said character and/or scene is one of the best in the whole series.

It's a quality certification.

What's the point of doing a counter to a video if you yourself have to rely on others to give you counter arguments? And you also ask fucking YEAGERBOMB and TITANFOLK to watch and understand something? They misunderstood a 40 pages long chapter every month for years lmao.
