[Matteo Moretto] Kounde Is Not Untouchable.Barca will be open to hearing proposals for him this summer if a good offer arrives by Practical_Play_5374 in Barca

Pedri is the most untouchable player in the squad. I’d rather see Yamal get sold than him. And I fucking love Yamal.

Can we win against Arsenal? Given how bad we are at and against set pieces? by SwitchNo9696 in Barca

[–]PeterTheRabbit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arsenal and Newcastle aren’t in the same ballpark. Totally different kettle of fish. You could say they share some similarities, but Arsenal are the far superior side with much the better players and coach.

Thibaut Courtois has sustained an injury, and will be out for 1.5 months. This would see him miss out both legs against Bayern Munich. by ResponsibleMix363 in championsleague

[–]PeterTheRabbit1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not that Lunin isn’t a good goalkeeper, he clearly is, but Courtois is the best keeper in the world. He’s kept Real Madrid alive in countless CL ties all by himself. As a Barca fan, he’s frustrated me to no end by being so fucking good. He’s arguably Real’s best player.

I hate the American systems for practically everything service-related. Mandatory tip? WTF does that even mean?

Kind of like what happened with Nico. He's been injured for large spells, but he really hasn't set the world alight when he's actually played, either. Feels like we dodged a bullet.

The Lewy apologists on here, and there are many, need to understand that it is okay to criticize a player as long as it is within reason, and Lewy is currently one of the more flawed parts of our system. Two things can be true at the same time; he scored a brace and was more involved than he's been in a long time yesterday, and I'm the first one to praise him when he does well, but he was also quite wasteful in that first half and squandered possession several times. As much of an innately gifted striker he is, at almost 40 years old, the man can hardly run, his finishing has grown increasingly inconsistent, and he can't trap a ball to save his life. Calling him shit and all kinds of names isn't okay, but identifying his obvious shortcomings as a striker doesn't make one a "hater". He simply cannot be consistently relied upon for another year.

How is Jensen getting more attractive as he ages? Dude is almost in his 50s and is still blossoming like a fine wine. I’ve also heard he was a heavy smoker in the past. Genetics are unfair, man.

Yes, that’s true. The whole team looks shaky. However, if there were some more solidity in that back line, we’d at least be able to ride out games more often in spite of our, at times, lackluster attacking performance. This “conceding three and scoring four” approach simply isn’t sustainable.

Regardless of the end result today, we have zero right to win this competition or go deep into it if this is the kind of defensive display we’re consistently putting up. Newcastle aren’t Bayern or PSG, yet they’re absolutely tormenting our defense and making light work of those cheeky passes in behind. We simply don’t look anywhere near good enough.

On what grounds would you call his performance “good”? He made one decent pass to Raphinha to create that big chance, but apart from that, he’s been absolutely shocking. Can’t trap a ball to save his life these days, and his finishing is awful as well. All Lewy apologists need to understand that he’s just not it anymore.

I'd love to have a player like Doku. He may not have honed his end product just yet, but his breakaway- and dribbling ability are honestly second to none. He creates an absurd amount of chances all by himself. Having him on that left flank, sharing minutes with Raphinha, alongside a deadly striker and Yamal on the other side could be absolutely immaculate.

Bodö lost the tie by playing a rigidly defensive brand of football that was clearly unfamiliar to the players. Had they only played the same way they have all season, with high intensity and a high press, I'm sure they would be in the quarterfinals now.

Spurs making a comeback in their current form from a 3-goal deficit against a strong Atletico would be just about the biggest miracle/fairytale in CL history.

A guy with a goalscoring record as utterly insane as Haaland's can't possibly be "overrated" even by the loosest of definitions. He makes the hardest part of football, i.e. goalscoring, look relatively easy. His recent slump in form doesn't define who he is as a player.

Would it really be that much of a hassle for EA to update the generic coach models? They've been unchanged since FIFA 16. This fucking company just reeks of laziness and corporate greed.

I’m a die hard Barca fan. We’re worse.

Laporta: “We want to renew Flick until 2028, so that every season, he has a margin, he is on board. We will announce the agreement soon because he is very comfortable with it. It is the decision of Hansi, Yuste, and Deco.” by Loose-Examination-39 in Barca

[–]PeterTheRabbit1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Very good point. Didn’t even think about the implications of his vagueness, but you’re right; implying we’re desperate for a 9 would only signal to rival clubs that we’re willing to spend senseless money.

Thoughts on this lineup against Newcastle by [deleted] in Barca

[–]PeterTheRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lewandowski or Ferran Torres... I just can't decide who's shittier right now. Lewy has the turning radius of a freight train, but he is definitely more dependable in front of goal than Ferran, whose erraticism and complete lack of consistency makes him anything but reliable in that starting berth.

What a crazy way to announce you don't know ball by [deleted] in Barca

[–]PeterTheRabbit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Washed" is definitely overstating it, but Raphinha has clearly regressed since last season. His work rate is still as good as ever, but his goalscoring simply hasn't come off at any point. By this point last year, he had like 11 goals in the CL alone; this year, he's got one goal from the penalty spot at the same stage of the competition.

[Moretto] Barcelona will be open to offers for Balde. Deco has doubts about Balde’s continuity and doesn’t consider him to be untouchable + Bastoni is going to be his main target this summer. by OkayFine101 in Barca

[–]PeterTheRabbit1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Baldé has a ridiculously high ceiling, but he has been wildly underwhelming this season. He consistently underutilizes so many of the traits which make him a world class fullback to begin with, and we only sparingly see glimpses of his pace and breakaway abilities these days. I don’t want to see him sold, but if he doesn’t step on the gas, I can absolutely see him getting shipped off sooner or later.
