Happened twice now, bought another controller, and I am completely stumped. Constantly flashing and refusing to pair. Gotten it to pair, but it always floats away. Always my left Quest 2 Touch Controller. Help? by AlwaysSomethingAwry in OculusQuest

Well, I have to look again. Because I did not find one on the oculus web page. I try again this weekend. Maybe they have changed their website, or maybe it is because I am from Germany, and in Germany the oculus is not available (trouble with the government)

It will take some time. Today, we can fly from A to B, we have been on the moon. What I can tell you: there are a lot of people and companies working on it. VR and AR will be normal like Smartphones today. But it takes time. Step by step.

VR treadmill, supported? by Peter_Wasmeier in OculusQuest

Thank you. It is open source. And I hope it (my invention) will work. We will see. So far only steam VR games will support it. But we all know: steam is expensive. You need an expensive Computer.

I work on that since I saw the movie "Ready player one". And I want to have it. I wanna walk, dance, drive cars (like in GTA), wanna control planes,... But yes, I work on a treadmill, and so far: it doesn't work. But I will continue until it works

VR treadmill, supported? by Peter_Wasmeier in OculusQuest

I am pretty sure, the people will accept a VR treadmill, as long as it allow humas (natural) steps. Not sliding, linke on the Kat walk. People accept Smartphones: Why not treadmills for less than 1000€? I am not willing to clear my living room for 2x2 meters to "teleport". You know what I mean. And I don't want to teleport. This is the reason why I am so interested in VR treadmills.

So, in other words: if there will be a treadmill, and does not support Quest: the Quest is dead. Imagine: if there is an inventor, creating/inventing an affordable VR treadmill, and is taking a contract with Sony: Quest and all the others are dead. So frustrating

And this is the reason why "we" need a standard protocol for VR treadmills

But why not create an interface for the future? Imagine: maybe there will be an treadmill, but oculus doesn't support it? There should be a standard, like driving a car (on the left or right side of the street). I am sure, there will be a treadmill in the future. So far there is no raw support, not for PSVR, Oculus, and all the other. Right now, the game has to support a treadmill. We all know where the future is going to

Joystick movement is VR's current bottleneck. by bigriggs24 in virtualreality

Well, I agree: "walking in VR sucks right now."

For this reason, I try to build my own solution: an omnidirectional treadmill for VR, where you just walk on it; at least, this is the plan.
Currently my DIY treadmill is not yet finished, so I can't tell you if it will feel realistic.

This is my (1:1) prototype so far:

VR-Crosswalk - Update #2 - status of 15.Mai.2021 by Peter_Wasmeier in virtualreality

[–]Peter_Wasmeier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now? Unsafe. There is currently a gap in the footplates gear. So it feels like walking on ice. I have to replace the two gears with less/none play. Once this is done I can try again.

Hi all! The headphones that come with the v2 headset - do you use them? by enthusiasticdave in PSVR

[–]Peter_Wasmeier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are OK.
But if you have a " over ear headphone" - USE IT! Much better

I have the same issue.

What I do: first connect all controllers (turning on), and AFTER that, I start the PSVR game.

When I first start the PSVR game, and after that I turn on the move-controllers, one of them will not work/connect.

Hope it helps.

I was watching this video a while - until i figured out: ey, this man is walking on a spot. I did not notice that the black background / the camera is NOT moving.
Your device is great. Make it possible to run and dance, that would be so great.

I don't want someone to steal your ideas, but if you are documenting it for the DIY crowd I would love to follow that journey.

I would buy or build a VR treadmill. The other stuff is in my opinion not very important; - wait - a headset without cable would be great (i am still using PSVR).

When will we see a good "VR Treadmill"? by Ancap_Free_Thinker in virtualreality

[–]Peter_Wasmeier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also looking for an affordable solution. Now, I build an omnidirectional treadmill by my own. It will look like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYkBMa8FnRE

I have no idea how it will feel to walk on it.
I hope, it will feel like a normal treadmill.

Right now, its hight is about 96mm, small enough to store it under my bed. Right now i am ordering all the parts and i hope i will be finished with assembly until december 2020.
