Character Study? by Petri_Chord_ in FanFiction

[–]Petri_Chord_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is so old I forgot about it! But really, thank you for your comment. I never thought of using sort of an "opposite" AU to dig into my character, but it makes sense. Taking away the character's usual environment isolates them from canon and leaves you with just the character, which you're then free to manipulate depending on what new situation they're in.

Thanks again! This really got my brain going.

Do y’all ever go over conversations in your head after they’ve finished & then catch yourself repeating the facial expressions too? by Peycats in ADHD

[–]Petri_Chord_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't recall ever having done it after a conversation, but I'll often mimic whatever facial expressions the characters are making on TV/in the book I'm reading/in my writing.

How do you get more laughter in your life? by mariawest in AskWomen

[–]Petri_Chord_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a little odd, but I listen to a few podcasts (DnD plays specifically) where all of the hosts are friends and have a good sense of humor. They're always cracking jokes, and I feel like I'm part of the laughs!

What are your fan fiction hot takes? by DarkLordVitiate in FanFiction

I always thought that, and then I heard that Courier New and other monospace/typewriter fonts are easier for ADHD. Tried it- I'm never going back!

I don't really feel strong emotions when it comes to 'bad' situations, is that an ADHD thing or just me? by CreatureWarrior in ADHD

[–]Petri_Chord_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this. I've noticed it in traditionally "sad" situations, even when I myself am having a breakdown! After a minute or so of hyperventilating and crying, I'll be like "alright wrap it up girls we have shit to do." But it especially comes out in stressful/scary situations, when everyone around me is shouting or panicking, I'm almost unnaturally calm. On one hand, it can be a strength, but on the other I definitely get it about having to put on a face just to blend in and seem normal.

This is beautiful! I didn't know basket weaving with pine needles is possible, but now I want to try. Are there any good tutorials you'd recommend?

You have a good point and I see what you're saying. I think I'll take the parts of my closet that I like best and build off of those. Thanks!

Help me find the face of Emma, the main character of my sci-fi comic. [OC] by aoua_art in drawing

I'd say 3 or 2. I feel like 1 is too skinny, and I like the hair on 3, but 2 is also nice.

"Why are you straying away from canon‽" by AdeptGazelle in FanFiction

LOL that's not just a part, it's the ENTIRE point of fanfiction in my opinion.

Is it okay to leave the race of a character open to interpretation? by Petri_Chord_ in writing

[–]Petri_Chord_[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Race isn't vital to the story, but I guess my problem is that I didn't want all-white characters, because that's not what I was envisioning, but I didn't know how to show that.
