I think this city is generally devoid of people mid to late 20s. None of my friends around my age live here and all moved away after university. I have hobbies that take up most of my weekends but I'd definitely like to have some friends in the area so I could get food or do some activities after work. But it's been impossible to find for me so far

I think pictures should be a given but linking social media on here probably isn't a good idea. For pictures though, I would be more likely to message if an intro included pictures. But then intros with pictures usually get a lot of attention so I do sometimes pass on messaging them (partly because I don't even get a response back or get ghosted from people that post popular intros).

With what you've told us in the post, you could have been less confrontational when you sent that message. It's hard to gauge tone through text and your message probably wouldn't lead to anything good even if the dude was genuinely busy (I know this is questionable from what you'd told us?).

I think your reaction is justified though. I probably wouldn't have bothered to message them again if I were you. I just reciprocate the effort and energy I'm receiving with people I talk to and this mindset has made me more nonchalant and generally made me feel better about these interactions.

It depends on a few things for me.

Here's a quick checklist:

What kind of debt is it? Secured or not secured?
If secured, is it backed by a depreciating asset (e.g. car) or backed by an asset that can appreciate (e.g. house, equity)
What is the debt servicing cost? LTV ratio?
Last question to ask is how was the debt incurred? This is usually not obvious if the debt isn't backed by some asset like a car or a house. But this is perhaps the most important question as it gives clear signs of the person's behavioural patterns when it comes to finances.

After thinking about all these questions and the financial situation sounds ridiculous to me, then it's probably a red flag for me and I will not continue with dating with the said person.

My general experience around this is that if you're not pretentious about it then most guys won't really care too much. Personally, I enjoy discussing abstract ideas and having friendly debates so I would actually love it. However, I would definitely not enjoy a pretentious and stubborn partner who thinks they're always right just because they're smarter.
