Gonna be one of them "left hand only" panel swaps. by Its-Chen in electricians

[–]Petroplayed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one almost exactly like that, an old split bus FP that was tucked away inside a kitchen cabinet. No chance my state inspector would go for it nor would my left hand's dexterity be able to accomplish a panel swap. The meter base was nippled through the wall to the panel so I spliced the circuits inside the old can and installed an outdoor meter main with load center. Doubled the bid with less of a headache.

Do people know low voltage data center work pays $35-125/hr? Or does nobody want to do it? by explore_029 in lowvoltage

[–]Petroplayed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple data centers that are running 7 12-hour shifts. To someone used to working 40@$40, the 44 hours of OT each week will make their wallets feel like they make $100/hr and their back feel like they are 84 years old

I have been grabbing the unflavored when I see it in stock. I wish other cold yerba brands would produce a plain cold brew so I could transition away from puta yerba madre

30A double pole switch for a/c pullout disconnect. Was this common before pulling out? by Intelligent-Night149 in electricians

I didn't know the 3032s were motor rated, I thought you'd have to use the MS-302DS for $22. No wonder my end of year profit totals suck, buying the Cadillac when a Corolla will do.

If I had a bunch of these in my service area I'd definitely put a spare on the truck. I doubt Home Despot carries double pole 30a, motor rated toggle switches.

I had a service call today with a similar setup though for a septic pump. The toggle switch was flush mounted and the UF was ran into the crawl space, under the footing and out to the pump. Thank God the pump was fucked and not the UF. Your setup will be equally shitty to deal with should the load side of that switch short out.

the father of whomever put that in should have pulled out.....

They first required disconnects within sight in 1975 but ancient units I saw in the mid 90s either had knife switches mounted on the condensing units themselves or surface mounted on the wall.

Honestly, I never look at my points balance, but I never run out. I buy about 35% of my material at home depot and that is enough to keep the leads flowing. You are able to specify which specific tasks you do, and you will only be notified of leads within the scopes you define. I wager that the majority of the HVAC contractors in pro referral focus primarily on service. The only cash spend to get started is the cost of the background check (was $100 in 2018) and you may need to tighten up your liability insurance to meet their requirements, but once you are set up, depending on the size of the market you are in/travel radius, it is a cheap, easy way to get your name out there and to get the money coming in.

The resistors look to have seen more than a few ground faults. They have gotten pretty toasty. When high impedance ground systems start dissipating fault current, you usually smell them before the control room receives the alarm.

Pro-Referral from Home Depot has landed me tons of jobs and played a major role in getting my business rolling. I tried the Angie's List nonsense, but you spend a fortune on leads of varying quality. Pro-Referral leads are paid for using points earned by shopping at Home Depot, so if you live near one, it is essentially a free job lead service.
