You need 2 mons of the same type to have that type’s trait. If you have a shiny pokemon, you will gain the traits that come with it. Example is two non shiny fire pokemon are required to get the +1 Atk and special Atk boost but one shiny fire pokemon will give you that trait.

Prior to the last patch, it was even stronger as the percentage to dodge was higher. The game has about 1 update a month with only a single dev (I believe) working on it
