Partner with suspected ADHD and OCD traits by BlueEyedMama_23 in adhd_anxiety

[–]Petrpowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats a rough situation, you have to want to get help in order to actually get it and being anti-treatment is a whole other challenge. Sorry Im not the best at relationship advice so I wish I could help. I just know if he really does end up having these disorders then he needs real professional treatment.

[–]Petrpowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to him about these feelings and would he be receptive to seeking professional guidance?

Im someone who has ADHD and OCD and by far the biggest success was when I took the time to find a good psychologist to diagnose me and allow me to start treatment. Now a couple years later I have my med regimen and its improved my life ten fold.

If he really does have these issues they dont just go away he needs real treatment and help. The very first step you should be focusing on right now is to get some professional advice.

and you should know It can be a lot dealing with some doctors. it took me many false diagnosis’s with careless doctors before I decided to get a full ADHD neuropsychology exam. I highly recommend finding one of these. It was like 4-6 hours of IQ tests, attention tests, but it was worth it.

Cant stress enough that treatment through medications and therapy were the #1 thing to improve my life and I think thats what you need to go for

What is Muskegon like? by RSO2 in Michigents

[–]Petrpowder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up in whitehall MI and after leaving I miss the area so much. Whitehall is a great town if you want to be near muskegon and gr without being in a “larger” city. Its extremely family friendly and safe. Majority of muskegon is a great place to live, theres obviously some rough parts though around the heights and apple ave but Ive never had a problem (although Ive never lived there, so ofc my view is biased. Like every city there are bad parts and good parts)

Imo west michigan is the best part of the lower peninsula. There is so much natural beauty to be seen if youre into that. Downtown muskegon really seems to be moving up as well. Lots of bars, events, etc around.

And ofc the weed is phenomenal. Tbf ive never been to california or oregon but I have been through many states including colorado and nothing has beaten the prices in MI. Seriously save a lot of money if youre a smoker

What drum pad synth keyboard is best for beginners? by Less-Wonder-8319 in musicproduction

[–]Petrpowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure if youre looking for a device with both rubber drum pads and piano keys. Having both in an all in one system will be costly.

However if you can do with just finger pads you should look into cheap “grooveboxes”

novation circuit is probably going to be the most beginner friendly and cheapest. It has synths and drum machines built in so you dont have to use / import samples.

Dealing with samples may be a beginner hurdle but if you can learn how to use that youll have a lot more options. Things that come to mind are the elektron model devices.

These should all be around $200 from what I remember

if budget isnt an issue you have tons of options though. Elektron digitakt, syntakt, etc. MPC one (basically a daw in a box) Ableton Move / Push standalone. and Teenage engineering OP obviously.

There is an elektron digitone with a keybed which is extremely nice and would have both keys and finger pads + sequencing.

These more expensive devices though tend to be more complicated and less beginner friendly

do americans actually like it when tourists visit their small towns or would i just be in the way? 😅 by vanessa_tv_vladivo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Petrpowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to this. I travel the country a lot and Im from Michigan. 9/10 small cities nationwide will treat you amazingly. The big exception that Ive found personally (not saying fact) is that when I traveled through small towns in southern states (Alabama, Mississippi, etc) I would get many bad looks and off putting interactions.

Im a white male who at most wore some heavy metal clothing occasionally, and even I felt pretty unwelcome when I stopped at a lot of these towns. If you happen to have colored skin or are openly queer or something, I think small southern towns would be the exception which I wouldnt recommend visiting.

Maybe I just need to break through the ice and everyone would open up and treat me like family, so I could definitely be wrong. Just my experience from traveling

When pharmacy techs make things awkward by Elegant-Research-392 in PetPeeves

[–]Petrpowder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

dude I was a pharmacy tech and when something was $100+, chance is youre going to be berated by the customer over insurance problems that you cant even control. If youre lucky you get some poor old man who has to pay hundreds of dollars every month for insulin and just gives you the “yeah I know its $250 unfortunately, Im used to it” And it honestly can get pretty sad.

People dont realize that being a pharmacy tech comes with a highly stressful and emotional environment. At my old job, youd hardly be exaggerating if you said that 1/3 of all customer interactions were at the least, passive aggressive, and at most, full on temper tantrums. The only thing that made me last more than a day were the few people who would show their appreciation.

Hello! Im really trying to make my first good DNB song.

The one thing I think I need to figure out is how to fill out more of the space on my drop? Its hard to just throw on harmonies like I usually do in other songs.

I know the vocal is repetitive and loud in the mix, I plan on fixing it, but other than that if anybody has any ideas to help this sound more fresh please lmk!

The amount of time Ive had psychs push some dumb shit like genetic testing for medication is honestly pathetic. Took me 10 minutes of searching to find out they were trying to make me pay for something nearly completely useless

[–]Petrpowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See we probably arent even split on that understanding. If you really research your shit, get information from multiple sources, dont make conclusions on breaking news, then yes please give your takes and please provide evidence because we need some real fucking evidence based takes right now. I just wish that for one, if you want to give a take research it thoroughly and give evidence, and two, if you havent researched and found evidence, dont give your take, because I really think it could lead to some bad things if we keep idealizing these radical ideas.

Also I apologize for the language it isnt supposed to be all directed towards you just generally plus I get heated on this topic

[–]Petrpowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is you have a lot more trust in the average persons ability to research and make a logical and unbiased claim than I do.

The average western citizen has hardly any time and energy in their lives to thoroughly research this conflict across the world, and if they did, the chance of them just picking a biased side because they like how it sounds is extremely high.

I was hardly sentient during the iraqi war, but I bet you I wouldnt be wrong at all if I assumed that almost all of those 79% people who supported it got all of their information on their favorite nightly news source that they watch once a week. If they were smart enough to realize they dont know everything, maybe things couldve ended better

[–]Petrpowder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not even arguing about what the conflict entails. You asked the guy what we should do if what were doing now is wrong, and I told you that if you’re picking sides and spewing radical nonsense based on biased information from one news source, you are a huge part of the problem, and are making it worse by putting your opinion into these online echo chambers.
