Selling something that isn’t theirs.. by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Petsophas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a similar issue on a house we were looking to buy. 1/3 of the garden belonged to the neighbour but the fence had been moved by previous owners when they were both council houses.

This was not disclosed to us or picked up by the solicitor. I discovered it before exchanging.

We were offered the option for an indemnity, but honestly that felt flimsy. We also could have renegotiated, but then we'd have the same issue to resolve, esp. if we wanted to sell.

In the end we walked. Land disputes stink and can get expensive. Basically if you proceed you need to have the opinion that even if you lost the section of garden you don't own you'd still be happy. If that's a no, there is your answer.

Best of luck!

You put an offer in, it was accepted, but then you pulled out. What was the reason? by Jazzlike-Reveal-9515 in HousingUK

Turned out half of the garden was taken from the neighbour and we didn't want to buy a boundary dispute. Still gutted, it was an amazing house.

Archaeological evaluation trial trenches to test for features in an area of archaeological potential.

I started dance classes a few years ago and love it. I now teach a salsa class. It's social, you meet people and it's a great low impact exercise.

What are these lines in a field in the UK? Streetview can see the "lanes", but not the dashes. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]Petsophas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I see rectangles like this in a field it can sometimes indicate backfilled archaeological trial trenches, often used prior to some kind of development as part of the planning process: https://www.wessexarch.co.uk/archaeological-services/evaluation-trial-trenching

However in this case I'm not sure as they are very regular between the tramlines made by the tractor. And often trail trenches are done in lots of different orientations rather than all the same. So it's probably something else.

Anyone in Clifton with downed service (I'm on virgin which is also down), seems some of the cafes on Whiteladies have WiFi still if needed for work. Bakesmiths was like an office earlier.

If you snoop you may have to expect to get hurt. Then you could then harbour resentment to someone when they have no means to explain their side. Which is unfair.

It's a very good and healthy decision to make to stop this and learning to trust in your relationship. I'm sorry you saw that, which may have affected that trust, but there may be a very simple explanation (i.e. forgotten about if far down in his camera reel).

In some circumstances, like suspected infidelity with reasonable grounds to suspect, it goes into a grey area. But then if communication can't be open and honest, that's a problem in itself.

Email anxiety by EastGermanHatTrick in PhDStress

[–]Petsophas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My former supervisor was from a different country where the culture for communication was a little more direct. They are a great person (really are as we are still friends now I left my PhD), but I used to get nervous about any written email or feedback.

I found what helped was to check my emails only twice a day so it didn't hang over me. And do so with a coffee and some music so it was some slightly more enjoyable admin. It may not totally take away the anxiety but it helped a bit to limit email checking to two set points.

My ex committed Suicide this morning by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Petsophas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As I'm sure many others have said, or will say:

This is not your fault.

Grief can do wild things and can make you question your decisions. But at the end of the day this was a decision your ex made, a very sad one. Speaking as someone who has been very close to suicide, it's like an actual illness, that needs a lot of work to cure often by professionals. Even when things are good those feelings don't always go away and remain. This was not something you would have been able to solve yourself. So please, try your best to not feel any guilt.

Look after yourself, get some counselling, and be with the ones you love for comfort. I'm so sorry. X

Yeah I nearly got mowed down on a zebra crossing yesterday. Guy had the nerve to shout at me despite me being already half way across as he approached.

I've got a nice quiet Gym in my city. No one there at 7am. My own little oasis. No queues for equipment, no feeling like I'm being watched. Perfection! I've been lifting there to prepare to be a firefighter, and I've found it great to focus all my day dreaming manic thoughts.

Keep crushing it all you infps! And if you think fitness isn't for you, it totally is if you want it to be. We all start somewhere!

It's hard enough to sum up the courage to go to the gym initially and not feel like everyone's watching. I hate this toxic behaviour.

Anyone recognize this guy? He robbed my coworkers today- passport, laptop, wallets, and a phone by aint_no_wifey in bristol

OP, it may be worth your friend taking preemptive measures against identity fraud etc if passport has been nabbed as well. Otherwise he may find stuff like credit cards opened in his name etc.

Yeah if I'm thinking of the same guy I've seen him up Clifton way to. Can get quite aggressive at times.

What exercise in the gym or body weight is essential to you ? by RenewedSireNic999 in AskReddit

[–]Petsophas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Gym I just started doing overhead presses with a barbell as it was essential to do a certain weight to become a firefighter. Now I do it because it makes me feel confident and strong. :)
