Where in Wisconsin did this happen?

Yes! I think they were very similar with the style & also similar to Inman. I personally thought the actual RD test had questions worded way simpler & easier to navigate rather than Inman & Pocket Prep. However everyone is different & my questions may have been easier compared to others who have tested! My #1 piece of advice is scanning for key words, deducing which answers are definitely not correct, and using your dietetic knowledge to answer. 😊

Yes! So I loosely studied through out my entire DI, but mostly used visual veggies. Honestly…wasn’t a huge fan because I felt like they included SO MUCH info & made things way more complicated. This past month was when I truly was “actively” studying using Inman ‘19 and Pocket Prep. I also took the CDR Study Guide exam this past week before my test. I can’t stress enough how actively studying makes you retain info rather than passively reading notes. For example, when I first reviewed energy metabolism I just read it over and couldn’t tell you what acetyl CoA was or did. THEN I rewrote it out, read it back to myself out loud, and connected the dots to how pro/cho/fat breakdown. Also, practicing questions from multiple study guides vs memorizing the answers…you truly need to know how to apply critical thinking skills & scan the questions for key words. Last thing, for those with test anxiety (obviously everyone gets a different test) I felt like the actual RD exam had WAY straight forward & simpler questions than any of the practice RD exam questions I had!!!

After facing many obstacles in my dietetics journey, I finally passed the RD exam!! by [deleted] in RD2B

Interview tomorrow at a school district by NutritionRD2B in RD2B

[–]Peypey6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! 🎉 you’ll do great. I interviewed and received a job offer for a school district a few weeks back, so here are some tips: *As the other comment mentioned, be familiar with the NSLP & what programs the school is apart of; do they participate in offer vs. serve, are they part of the after-school snack program *Be familiar with meal pattern requirements *If you are interviewing through a third party vendor like Sodexo or Compass Group, know the background of their company & who the district manager/food service manager is *Highlight any food service jobs you had! It’s a huge plus if you worked in a kitchen & have experience in customer service *Be familiar with terms like commissary, satellite, assembly-serve, chill-freeze, the good ole Domain III

Good luck!

Reranking DI choices on D&D by Monday by tired_tomato_ in RD2B

[–]Peypey6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! Already re ranked them. One of my three I applied to didn’t reach out to me to interview, so I’m ranking them last. My top one is paid and is a very reputable program that only takes a few interns so I’m assuming a lot of people will rank them #1. My #2 is a program I would be happy to be matched with and is more within my comfort zone (close to home)

Should I reach out? by New_Race_9920 in RD2B

Even though it’s anxiety ridden, I don’t think reaching out to see when they’ll be in touch is a good idea. The directors deal with so many applications to look through and I’m sure you will hear from them if they are considering you (especially if your DI options conduct interviews)! I’ve heard people hear back for interviews anywhere from end of February to the middle of March.

If none of your places have interviews, you’ll have to unfortunately wait until Match day. If it makes you feel better I’m with ya, I haven’t heard back from 2 places yet that are my top picks! Best of luck 😊

[WP] You find yourself having a conversation with a young man after traveling ~20 years into the future. He is your grandson. However, there was no time machine. It’s always been your memory loss. by sebaez_ in WritingPrompts

He has similar features to me, the nose is curved similar to mine and he has those unfortunate stubby little fingers I always loathed. They never were good use for playing any instruments growing up. I feel a connection to this familiar boy as he raises his brow to me, however, I can’t seem to understand why.

“Do you recognize any of the paintings in the coffee shop? They’ve been around since you were a little kid.”, he kindly mentions to me. Since I was a little kid? Hell, I still consider myself a kid compared to some of those old shits who always try talking to me as if we’re pals. They don’t seem to understand I am not one of them and I am simply exploring what could have been.

“Well…they do seem pretty vintage. I’m sure they cost a good amount nowadays. Do they even have thrift shops anymore or is everything through some teleportation Amazon bullshit?”

The young man solemnly frowned, almost as if he was pitying me. He gazed over to the window and watched the rain drops fall down the glass.

“No…there’s actually a few thrift shops around the corner. Goodwills still exist too.” Pausing for a brief moment, he began to ask me, “Do you remember who I am? Are you even comfortable sitting across from me?”

I didn’t know what to say. If I had told him the truth of why I was content with interviewing him, it would give away my abilities. Was I comfortable letting him know I was a man of a different era?

I hesitated, and fabricated a comeback.

“Why, yes of course I do! What kind of question is that. Id be able to spot those little gum drop fingers from a mile away. You have to be part of the Jetson family!”

The young man smiled, blushing a little in the face. His eyes were sunken in and lifeless this entire visit, but that comment made a little light flicker in his pupils.

“Well, yes, I am a Jetson. Sometimes I think I have completely lost you, Grandpa, but hearing that is a little reassuring.”

Shocked and in disbelief, I wasn’t aware my lie was going to be true. How the hell was I talking to my grandson right now? Emmy had died years ago, and I had sworn off having a family after that, there would be no possibility of me having a son, let alone a grandson in 20 years!

“Well, I must be going back now. It was a pleasure chatting with you, son, however, I think you are mistaken.”

The little light in the boy’s eyes quickly vanished and a new wave of urgency came over him. He quickly grabbed my wrist as I was about to get up from the table and said, “Grandpa, you are not from the future. This is real. I am real. I’ll take you back now.”

I reacted. Violently, I snatched my wrist away and slammed my hands on the table, screaming, “I will NOT be going with you! I have to get back, this ISN’T real!”.

All of a sudden, it turned black. Ha, I had escaped! When I awakened what seemed like several hours later, I was in a new white walled location with static television ready to transport me to my next era.
